NEW NEWS: since they don''t have an official website as of https://www.tradebit.comTFORWARD!its 2005 and the Flakes have a new cast of hopefuls practicing new songs and will be playing shows locally in Portland OR. They also recorded a new EP of four songs and included a bonus track weird diddy that claude threw together wich is being MASTERED soon and will be ready for a self-release in spring or something like that. It will be a self titled EP wich has two re-recorded tracks off of the first Demo 2001 with more gratuitous noise and trippiness.

They also will be following it up with a whole slew of new material to be recorded! I guess it takes some time to get things really ready to go and the Pink Snowflakes are poised to explode their gooey noise pop and new psych rock on the scene.
OK,not so new news......but still quite interestingly funny in a way.
LOUD, STATIC, WHITE NOISE, CAMPY, COOL...It wasn''t easy making the Snowflakes Bio being that they have only been a band for almost two years and have a reputation of being a highly creative and unstable musical experience from the start having gone through more than a few members in various stages. The revolving cast has been more than a few drummers,bass players, and a guitar player from Texas who played a multitude of effects at ear damaging volume and would throw his guitar while playing frustratingly chaotic and almost hit the drummer in the head at a show!
The Pink Snowflakes sound as if they wanted to play like the Flaming Lips but ended up sounding more like the Velvet Underground in a blizzard with the drummers Moe Tuckerish style and swirling noise wich makes for interesting listening. The original drummer and backing vocal was Catherine, a twenty five year old skateboarder and u.f.o. buff who liked Claudes songwriting but was very flakey and would miss practices to drive two hours out of town to hang out with a weird space cult on https://www.tradebit.comms in Washington state to have said they were channeling Pleiadians and energy vortexes out in the woods.
Being a non-linear thinking person as well, Claude would swap stories of u.f.o''s and forget what time it was for practice. The Snowflakes Bass player didn''t show up for their Demo they were recording and so they had a country bass playing musician fill in until they could get one. When Catherine left to pursue skateboarding and the karaoke machine, They enlisted two people from another local "shoegasey" band to help with playing live drums and bass but it was only a temporary situation and aron and will had to depart to concentrate on their own band after they played a few shows localy and in Claudes backyard last summer wich was a "loud and chaotic mess" with a circut bending friend that makes "weird noises from childrens toys". Shortly after that, the last remaining members were Claude and Cris who went on to record their first EP wich wouldn''t be finished until much later.
The Pink Snowflakes music is a weird style of classic rock guitar balladry,Sonic Youth like melodies and Swirling undertones. Back in 1995 after four years of being introduced to Oklahoma''s acid rockers the Flaming Lips music, guitarist/songwriter Andrew Rossi aka. Claude Dragonfly had his own ideas intensify to where music had no boundaries. Being a writer and storyteller he recorded his whimsical collages of spaced out fairy tale ideas onto tape.
Then came the fall of 1999 when Andrew being fed up with no real musical outlet enlisted guitarist/keyboardist arranger Cris Kent, an effects virtuoso to help with his sonic vision thus forming the Pink Snowflakes(name taken by a bad experience with some window pane). With the help of a recording engineer friend, Cris,Catherine,Aron and Andrew recorded an official demo of their eccentric flakey take on pop and Americana infused psychedelia called "Psychedelicately Driven Demo 2001".
After a few shows in venues around town,word was starting to spread that there was this local band of space rockers who had interesting sounds and ideas such as Flaming Lips or Mercury Rev. The music that the Snowflakes create is dark, dreamy, catchy indie pop music with plenty of ear candy and traces of psychedelic noise set to the lead singer and main Snowflake Claude Dragonfly''s curious stories and fuzzy metaphors describing strange places, characters and haunting fairy https://www.tradebit.com story came from a time when Claude worked at a group home out in the country in Michigan and the place was visited and haunted by ghosts and an elderly lady who always was leaving in her rocket ship!
Claude Dragonfly is a storyteller and illustrator with too many weird ideas to illustrate and paint so he preferred to write stories and sing songs about them. " Some of the song ideas were just ordinary situations exaggerated to be something more epic like a movie but doesn''t that make for more of an interesting story? wouldn''t this person''s life sound more incredible if we told it another way?"were constantly writing scripts for our lives https://www.tradebit.come them sound interesting and exciting as possible.."
