Debbie Fleming, Dorothy McDonall and Mary Ellen Moore met and became fast friends while singing soprano in the famed Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. After seeing the film “O Brother Where Art Thou?” they were inspired to form a country-roots trio to fulfill their love for this unspoiled music. In the 7 years they’ve been together, they have performed from Nashville to Ontario, from radio to TV, festivals and house concerts to Roy Thomson Hall. They have now recorded three CDs – the first one “Angel Wings” was debuted in Nashville, the second -- “Girl Time,” was recorded with members of The Bebop Cowboys and the newest CD "Livin'' It" has just been released.
"Livin'' It" is all original material by Debbie Fleming, and features the exquisite harmonies that ChoirGirlz have become known for, supported by excellent musicians Steve Briggs(Bebop Cowboys), Victor Bateman, John Adames(Prairie Oyster), Burke Carroll, Don Reed (Quartette, South Mountain) Arturo Avalos(Jesse Cook, Buffy Ste. Marie). "Dixie Chicks meet the Andrews Sisters" is an apt description of the infectious music the ChoirGirlz love to perform, as they infuse a generous dollop of jazz harmonies in their fun, swinging country flavoured music.
