Well, since the debut album of AFTER ALL THIS TIME… broke out, I’ve been working on new music almost everyday. I mean…this thing never stops for me. I feel very unfulfilled if I don’t at least play one of my instruments throughout some part of the day. Hence, why it never ends for me. After the rush and slight success of the debut, I started to turn my attention to new stuff, which ultimately became JOURNEY THROUGH.
This album exemplifies the deeper sounds on creative level that existed in me.
JOURNEY THROUGH begins with a soothing and subtle hint of something exotic, but then it quickly dispels that notion to bring you out of the tropics...
and into the modern day studio with the acid groove jazz headliner track appropriately name GROOVOLOGY. From there the album travels into the land of electronic, hip hop, and dub reggae music.
It’s funny…. the track PRESS FOR TIME, was produced to remind me of how long this album took to come to light, with all of the things that were going on in my life. Right in the midst of the song the synth lead buildup metaphorically demonstrates the frustration that almost forced this project from ever getting off the ground…oh well. Journey Through is out and here to stay, thanks to the Most High, and like minded individuals who saw the vision I was creating.
For some time now I have been on this “vibe” of listening to the sounds of the guitar. It’s a fascinating instrument and I love it. Months ago I produced a romantic jazzy reggae song called SHE’S MY LADY, and I have to say that, that instrument spoke to the inner parts of my musical soul. I’m glad I had the opportunity to really experience its cosmic musical power. Continuing on, the track SUBTLE HINTS and EARTH MOTHER bears the fruit of what was in my head to bring forth of this instrument. AVAILABLE YET?... is my lighthearted piano touch on the topic of a modern urban romance between two lovers.
I grew up listening to lots of reggae and Jamacian dub music, and I’ve produced tracks in the past for myself as well as for friends that brought that side out of me, hence this is why PANORAMIC DUB was placed on this project. I intentionally left it open for any serious bubblers out there to flow on. Enjoy that one peeps.
MALCOLM''s DREAM is produced in the spirit of joy when my music partner Synasta of TRIPTYCH MUSIC GROUP son was born. Being that I a big fan of hip-hop and jazz at the same time, I wanted to give this song a dreamy effect and I think it came off well within both mediums. When Malcolm is old enough, he’ll know that this was meant for him.
GETTIN’ OUT is just, what it is. …gettin’ out of a situation that’s not worth staying in.
Now and again there are times in my life I tend to think about the voice of the Most High talking to me in moments of crisis, when I seek understanding, and spiritual enlightment, FEAR NOT MY CHILD…. reminds me of this relationship I have with HIM+. Even though the journey is long and tiresome, I will get there by the wisdom of his words and the direction his hand leads me. Period.
SOULTY NICE is a collaboration between my other music partner DJ 4REAL of TRIPTYCH MUSIC GROUP and a newly discovered unsigned rapper my friend of the rap group BERMUDA TRI known as DOUBLE J. Like I said before, I love hip- hop, and to hear J. rip it up on this track is “NICE” fo’ real.
The last guitar track to wrap up the album is BRIGHT LIGHTS, this was a wonderfully collaborated effort with talented producer, sound engineer, and computer wiz musician, and my good friend Synapse also of BERMUDA TRI. “Awesome” is the only word that describes the musical sensation your ears are going to hear when you listen to this track. The key word, I want you to imagine throughout this song is…. LOVE.
And so my friends… the journey ends with INNER PEACE, a peace only you can have within yourself. I have found it and it has made me wholesome and new.
Lastly I want to say that this album is very special to me, and I want you the listener to hear it, enjoy it, and learn from it. Someone recently asked me, “Which one was my favorite?” I really can’t say, because they are all my favorites, I don’t place any of them any higher than the others. All I can say is that I had a wonderful and productive time working on this album, and I hope those of you who are reading this will appreciate my contributed efforts to Acid jazz, but more importantly to music, the universal language of the world. So, go ahead and listen to my …JOURNEY THROUGH.
