Al began playing professionally on the local club scene at the age of seventeen, working in an original band from his home town of West Warwick, RI. It is in this band that Al began to develop as a song writer and band leader. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but received most of his practical training and industry knowledge by working and performing with some of the top veterans of the New England music scene such as the legendary James Montgomery. When he was twenty four he auditioned for a band which eventually became "The Ignitors". The Ignitors developed into one of the top party bands in southern New England from 1990-1995.
Since the year 2000 PowerHouse has released two full length CDs of original material; Al has performed live on 94 WHJY radio; been interviewed on both CBS channel twelve and NBC channel 10 in Providence; completed a video produced by Jim Taricani from channel 10: recorded live and aired on "The Live at Chan''s" show on cable TV for one month; opened up for BB King twice and South Side Johnny at Lupo''s; headlined the "All Fired Up" festival in downtown Providence; and produced a CD release party for the "Exotic Dancer" CD which included live dancers on stage and a three camera video shoot that was hosted by Paul from the Paul and Al show on WHJY.
Al is also an accomplished acoustic guitarist, performing authentic acoustic blues, rock and roll, and his vast array of original songs. Over the years of performing both as an acoustic artist and with his electric band he developed his voice as a singer. His passion for music is evident in his delivery as a singer and guitarist. It is this that he wants people to feel and relate to in his live performances.
