You''ve heard their music on MTV''s sleazy "Undressed" and in the indie flick Dream Catcher. Friends since High School, Scott Cunningham (Vocals, Bass), Jason DeBruer (Drums), and Steve Sauer (Guitar, Vocals) began PROMENADE as a schoolboy project in their native Cincinnati. What was once an outlet to channel angst, PROMENADE is now a legitimate "buzz bin" band, drawing national attention since their 2000 indie release Save The Radio.
Progenitors of smart, heady, hook laden pop, the band is equally capable of pulling out blistering melodic rock, arty dynamics and feed-back drenched noise alongside more subtle, quiet melancholic tales of lust, love, loss and libations.
Sprung from the same Ohio Valley water supply that nurtured the AFGHAN WHIGS and ASS PONYS, PROMENADE''s simple beginnings have grown beyond their wildest dreams. The band has honed a unique sound that combines the pop trio prowess of The Police, the evocative non-linear musings of Chronic Town era R.E.M. and a distinctive, instantly recognizable sound like Buddy Holly. PROMENADE''s non-traditional take on pop music has endeared them to critics and music fans alike earning them a CINCINNATI ENTERTAINMENT AWARD for BEST INDIE/ALTERNATIVE BAND and featured artist slots at Canada''s NXNE and Pepsi''s Jammin'' on Main. They have shared the stage with modern rock chart toppers SUPERDRAG, NADA SURF, SPONGE, GIN BLOSSOMS and more.
Save The Radio (2000), currently spinning on college radio, garnered an ALBUM OF THE YEAR nomination at the CINCINNATI ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS. Instead of grandstanding the disc''s acerbic mantra to save commercial radio from stagnation, the group let the ten tracks do the talking. The band has enjoyed a regional hit with "Nervous Wreck," which was a year end TOP FIVE SELECTION with influential modern rock radio WOXY 97X station DJ. PROMENADE is currently working on new material with Producers from both coasts to craft their sound for an international audience.
