Paul Rozmus

I always think the hardest thing for anyone to do is to write about himself. The idea was to keep it very personal, just like the label that I started 10 years ago and by wanting to keep it on a personal basis, I named it "Face 2 Face Records".
I was born in Poland into a family where I got a lot of warmth and love when I was a child. This is what I think made me very sensitive to everything what is around me. That sensitivity with musical talent, that I inherited from my father and my musical family, helped me become a creative artist.

When I was five years old I started playing piano. I graduated from the Polish Conservatory of Music in Katowice with a Master''s Degree as a composer, producer and arranger of pop and jazz music. -Doesn''t it sound great? :-).
During my high school years, I was exposed to jazz and had a chance to work with the best Polish jazz players. That gave me the fundamentals of that style of music and paved the way of who I am right now as an artist. I am still very close to Pop/Rock/R&B music, but jazz influences are always recognizable in my writing, arranging and producing. The year before I immigrated to the United States, I was recognized as a conductor and songwriter in a Polish Song Festival in Opole conducting my own Big Band and getting the top award for one of my songs.
I immigrated with my family - a two year old daughter, my grandma and my wife Renata to the US. That was one of the biggest and most difficult tasks of my life. After a few years that would describe a lot of ... (well that''s a story for one good book!), my family and I settled in Florida. I opened my small label Face 2 Face Records and started recording and writing again. I did release a couple of albums of my own, with the latest one (featuring Freddie Jackson, Jeff Kashiwa, Renata, and Erick Essix) getting to the Billboard Jazz charts (nr 5 :)). That CD "On The Funky Side" was also one of the most played CDs in 2002 on the Smooth Jazz Radio.
I didn''t stop only on my stuff, I always loved to co-write with other musicians. Often Co-operation brings unexpected results. :) I continue a relationship with Poland. Natalia Kukulska (one of the top Polish singers) adopted two of my songs to her gold and platinum albums, and as you can see on the "Face 2 Face" webpage, there are other musicians who sing and work with me.
Listen to samples of their work and don''t forget that a real musician is always proud of his/her work. The sacrifices that we (true artists of any genres) all make, are always much greater that any pay most of us will ever see... so your kindness and appreciation to art is the air that we''re breathing every day...
Love you all,
Paul Rozmus

Now That''s what others write ... :)

Paul Rozmus and The Funkyside Band

Naples, FL: (October 20, 2008) . . . If you’re looking for an antidote to the everyday and an alternative to the jazz doldrums, a fresh wind is blowing. It’s upbeat, high energy and an eclectic fusion of contemporary and smooth Jazz.
It’s Billboard charted jazz flautist Paul Rozmus and The Funkyside Band, featuring Renata, Freedie Jackson, Jeff Kashiwa, and Eric Essix
“Paul is a master at getting people clapping, dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves while he alternately knocks their socks off with aggressive upbeat rhythms and then serenades them with delicate and sensual passages,” promises Noodles owner Matt Berman. And, Renata adds a pleasant variety with her unique strong vocals, sensual ballads, and virtuoso violin.
“Paul is a multi-gifted European-trained musician who performs popular and original tunes in a unique and memorable way,” says Berman. “He has assembled a collection of exceptional contemporary jazz artists to evoke a delicate balance by comparing their imaginations and improvisational skills in a live face-to-face situation.
`“Paul’s jazzy flute and funky keyboards, combined with his own special arrangements, provide a distinctive blend of European, Brazillian, Latin and American influences,” he continues. His music is reminiscent of Herbie Mann and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, then soars way beyond to a diverse fusion of jazz, funk, rock, pop and new European chillout.
According to Fred Scott from https://www.tradebit.com , “Paul Rozmus makes the flute talk and walk with peppery rhythms and strong R&B pulses.” Freelance music critic Robert Kaye says, “Rozmus is a master at weaving profoundly melodic statements together, creating solos that are at one technically challenging, yet always accessible.”
About Paul Rozmus
Paul Rozmus is bandleader, composer, arranger, producer, keyboardist and solo flutist. His nimble instrumental scatting, percussive sensitivity, infectious grooves, sensual energy and intelligent arrangements imbue both his recordings and dynamic live performance with irresistible warmth and charm.
Following in the tradition of his debut album, Rhythm of Love, the 11 tracks of Paul Rozmus’ second solo release, On The Funky Side, are all written or co-written by the artist, himself. They display not only his prodigious ability on flute, but also his sophistication and maturity as a producer/arranger.
Deliciously rhythmic, melodic and hooky, On The Funky Side encompasses contemporary jazz and R&B, shaded by funk, blues, Latin and pop. “Each of the songs has some kind of different twist, even though they’re related to each other,” reflects Rozmus. “That’s why I picked different musicians for different songs. I wanted variety, yet there had to be a stylistic connection.”
Jeff Kashiwa lends soprano saxophone to the album’s first single, “No, No, No… OK!” providing a perfect vehicle for Rozmus’ agile fluting. Freddy Jackson, who has a penchant for collecting No. 1 hits, delivers a romantic and sensuous version of Rozmus & Gary Walker’s’ “I Miss You,” while guitarist Eric Essix infuses the title track with his signature funk-blues-jazz fusion. (The track has already been picked up on smooth jazz stations in the UK, where London-based Passion Jazz has released On The Funky Side.) Essix also plays and shares production credit on the evocative and sexy “At 2 In The Morning.”
The classically trained Rozmus’ lifelong passion for jazz with pop nuances and a funky flavor began in Poland, where the flutist studied at the most prestigious conservatory, in Katowice. He served as musical director at numerous festivals and received top honors for his songs and instrumental performances before and after graduating with a Master’s degree in Composition and Arranging.
Over the course of his career, he has produced, arranged or recorded above 200 compositions, with radio hits, achieving renown as a solo artist and contributing to both gold and platinum albums for top performers in his native country. Visit https://www.tradebit.com for more information.
