Details:
When Helen Bush, Dora Carlyn-Horton and Maude Grasselly began making music together several years ago, they never dreamed of producing a CD. The idea began to germinate as more people loved their music and singing styles. In 2007 Helen went on a Holy Pilgrimage to Haifa, Israel. Her prayer at the Holy Shrines was to have the music of her friend Dora heard. Within days, Dora met and consulted with Ron Kauvon of “The Organic Sound” who not only sings and plays several instruments, but engineers CD’s. When he heard the words and music, he said he would help. The rest as they say is history.

“Pathway to Paradise” is their first album. All the music is written by Dora Carlyn-Horton. The lyrics are either complete prayers or excerpts from the Baha’i Writings or are the result of the influence of them. The hope is that you will learn something of the Baha’i Faith through these songs and prayers and will be motivated to investigate it more fully.

Progressive Revelation, one of the two written completely by Dora exemplifies the teachings of the Baha’i Faith. It explains that there is only one God, that He has many names, He has sent messengers at different ages in history and we are all His children.

O Son of Spirit is from a book called “The Hidden Words”. These are short but powerful answers to our prayers if we listen with our hearts as well as our ears. The true meaning is hidden among the simple words.

The Morning Prayer is a wonderful way to start the day.

Divine Happiness again is an excerpt from the Writings of Baha-u-llah. It is done in the Gospel style and gets you moving.

All Glory Be To This Day is a wonderful passage from the writings that explains how God has come to us through His newest Manifestation, Baha-u-llah.

The Children’s Prayer in its entirety is one of many written especially for children and youth.

The Prayer for the Departed, also in its entirety, is used at funerals and memorial services.

Paradise was written by Dora and uses portions of the writings along with her own talents to create a magical song that gives us much to think about.

About the artists

Helen Bush has been singing for most of her life. In 1990, she joined the Nova Singers of South Florida, who performed at Carnegie Hall. She sang with the Florida Grand Opera Company at the opening of the Broward Center for the Performing arts in 1992. She also performed “Tosca”, “La Traviata”, and “The Sound of Music” with the Florida Gold Coast Opera Company. She performed at Carnegie Hall again in 2002 with the Baha’i chorus. They also performed at “the Grand Ole Opry” with Jimmy Seals. The purity of her tone is one of a kind and her ability to harmonize is a special gift.

Maude Grasselly loves music and began singing publicly ten years ago. She is part of a duet called the Sweethearts of Song that tours South Florida. She also performs at many Baha’i events. Her beautiful operatic sound brings majesty and depth to the music.

Dora Carlyn-Horton is a natural musician who writes music and lyrics. Her ability to translate the writings of the Baha’i Faith into songs is uncanny. Her talents are “God-given” as she has had no formal training in music. She is a multi-talented performer who began her career in the theatre. She was the first musical director of the Children’s Theater Company of New York City and continues to bring music and theater to children throughout South Florida. She writes music and performs regularly for the Baha’is. She is also a professional chef, makeup artist, hairstylist. This CD would not have been possible without her many, many talents.
