Savannah natives release original songs:

Save Savannah! features 11 heart-felt tunes
celebrating the city’s history and charm

Savannah, GA - - As teenagers in their native Savannah in the ‘60s, Peter Polites and John Caparisos sang classic folk and Beatles tunes in nightclubs and coffee houses. Known as Pete and John, they played Someplace Else on River Street, The Boar’s Head and Ye Olde Crow’s Nest, having a blast.
Today, decades later and still the best of friends, the two musicians reunited to release a collection of original songs that honor the charm and soul of the city they love. Titled Save Savannah! -- 11 songs highlight the founding of Savannah, Victory Drive’s history, Tybee Island’s Back River, one of Savannah’s finest architects – William Jay – and other locally inspired stories.

Artist bios
Raised in Savannah’s tight-knit Greek Orthodox community, both Caparisos, Polites and their families remain active in the Savannah and Atlanta Greek American communities.
Fr. John A. Caparisos – a Greek Orthodox priest – is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Savannah (https://www.tradebit.com). For 31 years, Fr. John served as chaplain in the United States Air Force, and was the first priest from his Archdiocese to be promoted to Colonel, retiring with that rank in 2008. Caparisos also earned a Ph.D. in Education from Walden University in Minnesota, and has taught in Savannah schools and at Armstrong Atlantic State University for many years.
Peter Polites, an award-winning architect and artist, lives in Atlanta. Founder of Polites Associates Architects in 1985, his work in both professions is influenced by growing up surrounded by Savannah’s old world beauty. As the architect of an Olympic monument, an art museum for the Newington Cropsey Foundation on the Hudson River, and scores of commercial and residential projects around the country, he believes a nurturing environment brings a sense of well-being and can positively impact behavior. His paintings – often capturing dramatic nature scenes in Tybee’s shores and marshes – are represented by Ann Jacob Gallery in Highlands, North Carolina (https://www.tradebit.com) and Sherry French Gallery in New York City (https://www.tradebit.com).
