Randy Clay was basically born a musician. At the tender age of 6 years old, he began playing drums and singing. One of his first recordings was at age 8 with family musicians at Arthur Smith Studios in Charlotte, N.C. Very shortly, Randy picked up the guitar and well the rest is pretty much history! Randy has traveled the nation with bands from all genres of music......from jazz, rock, soul, country, top 40, classical, standards, etc... and has shared the stage with such Artists as David Sanborn, Spyro Gyro, City Kids, Bits & Pieces, The Coasters, The Platters, The Fantastic Shakers, The Steppes, Con Hunley, Lee Greenwood, The Oak Ridge Boys, Jessie Dixon plus many others. As a result, Randy''s music, as you can imagine is somewhat eclectic. He has performed studio sessions on many recording projects in the past and has produced other projects as well. Randy''s motto is "if you can hum it, I can play it!"
Randy received his BA in music/guitar and a minor in percussion from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is president and owner of Music Consultants Entertainment, Inc. and Marcato Music Record Company. He books musical entertainment and operates a music instructional studio, where he himself and his other teachers teach their many protégés.
With his first solo album release, "Beyond This World" in 1999, Randy wrote all music, lyrics and produced the project. It was mastered by Nashville notable, Hank Williams of Master Mix. His second project, "Passengers" released in March, 2002 was created by Randy, incorporating extraordinary professional session players that cranked up the whole production to an exciting level. Randy''s latest project entitled, "Randy''s Realm" released March, 2004 showcases his all around talent, in that it was written, produced, engineered, mixed, mastered, designed and all instruments and vocals were performed by Randy.
