Details:
John Rives
John Rives grew up in the ‘70s in Athens, GA listening to Credence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Winter, The Allman Brothers, The Zombies, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Yes, The Rolling Stones, and Frank Zappa just to name a few. Other influences were Leo Kottke and Christopher Parkening. John studied classical guitar at the University of Georgia for two years and played in a number of rock bands during high school and college.

A couple years after moving to California in 1981, John met guitar-player/singer/songwriter, Rick Baugnon, and the two musicians hit it off immediately. They began writing songs together and produced a recording of four acoustic instrumentals songs. Both musicians were influenced heavily by Leo Kottke, and were now listening to Michael Hedges, who was a pioneer with the acoustic guitar.

Life circumstances led to a long break in musical recording and performance for both John and Rick, but they eventually got together again in 1997 in Nevada City, California, and recorded their first CD titled Threshold. John has played with many local musicians in the Nevada City area since that time.

John always wanted to record a solo CD, but was never happy with his vocals, featured on three tracks of Threshold. After meeting Joe Kady and working up some songs together, John asked Joe if he would sing lead vocals on the songs he had started recording at Flying Whale Recording Studio in Grass Valley, CA.

Joe, who lives in Hayward in the SF bay area, came up and did an amazing job of singing Remember Me. After that, John and Joe decided to record a CD together of songs they had both written. This CD represents the first four songs of the new full length CD and is available on CD Baby and https://www.tradebit.com. Joe sang lead vocals on all songs and harmony vocals on three of the four. John wrote and played all the guitar parts on all four songs except the 12 string lead on Run Back To Me, which was played by Rick Baugnon. Run Back To Me was originally released on Threshold and has been revamped for the new CD. There is also a special appearance by Pete Grant on pedal steel.

Patrick Rives
Patrick has owned and operated The Odyssey Studio since 1998. He has also played in numerous bands in the Athens/Atlanta area with varied musical styles from heavy metal to folk rock.
Some of the bands Patrick has recorded at The Odyssey Studio:
Forthfading
Beyond Tomorrow
Leaving Araby
Taking Lottie Home
Garlington
Jasper Gate
The Blue Hour
Derrick McAlister (Rick James'' former drummer)

Joe Kady
I’m Joe Kady, a San Francisco Bay Area musician, songwriter, and actor. After spending many years performing on the road, I’ve been trying to stick closer to home. Lucky, too, since John Rives invited me to spend some time in the studio to sing these songs he wrote for our new CD. We hope you like them. Thanks, John, for inviting me to sing.
Life still includes some traveling. This year I’ve been or will be performing at the Sockeye Grill and Brew Pub in Boise, Idaho; the Springer Opera House in Georgia; Bear Valley Lodge in the California Sierra; and the Red Beet (thanks Sally and Jay!) in Palmer, Alaska. Closer to home, I’ll sing at Strings in Oakland and do a stage show in December and January at the SF Playhouse in San Francisco.
Starting out as a child cowboy and singer in Fort Pierre, South Dakota, I’ve held more jobs than some: horse breaker, salesman, carpenter, wrestler, singer, theatre manager, storyteller, voice-over talent, actor, and playwright. I’ve been lucky enough to travel the country and play in hundreds of towns in at least 30 states. “I’ve been wandering early and late, from New York City to the Golden Gate.”
Early in 2009 I plan to release a CD of original and unrecorded Americana tunes that have been piling up.

Rick Baugnon
Rick grew up in New Orleans, LA and Beaumont, TX. - two cities with strong musical roots. He also studied classical guitar and was heavily influenced by The Beatles. Rick has performed in bands in New Orleans and Seattle, as well as numerous cities in California. He is a prolific songwriter and was featured at the Nevada County Singer/Songwriter performance venue in Grass Valley CA.

Pete Grant
Pete’s a consummate performer and studio musician and has recorded and performed with the likes of The Grateful Dead, Hoyt Axton, Guy Clark, Stills and Nash, Maria Muldar, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson, and Jerry Jeff Walker to name just a few. For a complete list of musicians Pete has performed with and more info about Pete, go to https://www.tradebit.com. Pete played pedal steel on Run Back To Me.

Bruce Wheelock
Bruce has owned Flying Whale Recording Studio since 1993 and has recorded such notable artists as the late Utah Philips, Alasdair Fraser, Dakota Sid Clifford, Louis Johnson, Stephen Holland, Saul Rayo, and many others. Every once in awhile Bruce still gets the drums out and is featured on Run Back To Me playing the drums.

Craig Theissen
Craig is another consummate musician and plays bass, guitar, and several middle-eastern instruments. Craig and Bruce played together in a local Nevada City band with the great name of Tao Jones.

Alec Wooden
Alec is a professional studio musician in the Athens, GA area and was gracious enough to record the bass part on Remember Me at The Odyssey Studio.

All songs recorded at Flying Whale Recording Studio in Grass Valley, CA by Bruce Wheelock.

Drums and keyboards for All This Time, Remember Me, and So Wrong recorded at The Odyssey Studio in Colbert, GA by Patrick Rives. Bass for Remember Me also recorded at the Odyssey Studio.
