PUSHING RED BUTTONS

*Formed in New York City during the spring of 2001 by Keyboardist-Songwriter, Steve Herrig, PUSHING RED BUTTONS was originally comprised of musicians from New York City and Steve’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
*Their first CD "Down", released August 2002, was praised for it''s "eclectic style" ("Their odd-ball, toe-tapping pop tunes are appealing and imaginative...though it may sound strange on paper, this is actually a charming and inspired album" - The Big Takeover Magazine).
*In May of 2003 their second (self-titled) CD "Pushing Red Buttons" was released. This time a core version of the band had been formed with NYC musicians - Rich Gaglia (guitar/vocals), Rich Chapple (bass/vocals), John DiGiulio (drums/percussion) and Herrig (keyboards/vocals). The CD was greeted with glowing reviews that created a mystery regarding the non-peforming band. ("Pushing Red Buttons reminds me of Klaatu...that should be taken as a compliment, because many people thought that Klaatu were actually the Beatles in disguise" - Splendid E-Zine / "When a band has the ability to remind me of XTC, the Partridge Family, and the Beatles, all within the confines of one release, they''ve earned both my curiosity and my respect" - Left Off the Dial ). Several outside musicians added their talents to the second CD such as, Todd Rundgren’s Utopia Bassist-Vocalist, Kasim Sulton.
*“Foreign Film of Tango Dance ?" was released May 2004 to more positive reviews ("PRB seem to be using entertainment to politicize rather than the other way around. The further you get into this one, the more you notice that they''re seditious little buggers" - Unpeeled U.K.). Saxophone player Dan Cipriano (Wilson Pickett, Ronnie Spector...etc..) added chops on three songs and String Player Extraordinaire Christian Howes (The Les Paul Trio) laid down various string tracks as well.
*The band took a break between 2005-2007 as the band members fulfilled other musical obligations. Gaglia, being a well known Producer in NYC was busy working with multiple artists while the rhythm section of Chapple and DiGiulio had committed to touring with other bands. Herrig, who had been contracted to work on tours as a Tour Accountant, went off to work on tours for The Hold Steady, Mika, Luis Miguel, Sting and finally working on The Police World Tour between 2007-2008.
*During breaks in obligations, the band began recording new songs in March 2008. Some new members were added in the process. Steve’s good friend, Anton "El Tigre" Johnson joined up as an additional Lead Guitarist , Dave Clark was added to share Lead Vocal duties, John Hartley (from the first PRB CD) returned as Bassist on nine songs and John Ferrara (bassist from the NYC band, Consider the Source) also came onboard.
*On November 28, 2008. Pushing Red Buttons released their fourth CD “The Butterfly Net” for your listening pleasure.
*Maybe the most interesting thing about Pushing Red Buttons is...THEY DON''T REALLY EXIST.
