Details:
As Revolution, I Love You, longtime friends and songwriting duo Jason Reynolds and Rob Lindgren present an eclectic mash up of indie rock and dance beats that is equal parts drum machines and Fender jangle, fuzz bass and piano.

The two met in high school, and performed together in various incarnations of the same band for years. While Jason attended school at the University of Delaware, Rob made weekly trips up and down I-95 between Towson University and Delaware so that the band could write, record, and perform. Rob explains: “We took it very seriously. We set up a recording studio in my parents’ basement and played a lot of shows in New York, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.” Eventually, they both settled on leaving school and giving music an honest shot. Unfortunately, this decision was soon followed by the bands’ break up, and left the pair without a vehicle for their writing. “I definitely thought about going back [to school]. Part of me figured that we could always pick up where we left off a few years down the road.”

However, sound judgement and good life decisions were cast to the wayside, and the two began a new project. “We had a lot of half finished songs sitting around that never worked out with the old band, and we’d been kicking around the idea that we could just set all this new material against programmed beats and see what happens.” Over the next year, the pair became more adept with programming, turning to a lot of new music for not only inspiration, but an education. “We listened to a lot of Squarepusher and Aphex Twin for a while, because the way they use the drum machines and synths is so transparent, it’s very easy to see how they pull it off.”

The two are excited about their new direction. “The dance beats have become such a big part of what we do. And I have to admit, I like it a lot. They add a sense of humor to everything.”
