Specifically, this CD celebrates the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, a story that reveals the loving and merciful nature of God, and God’s desires to care for, lift-up, and bless every person on earth. The songs celebrate this Good News in music and verse, declaring unequivocally that God loves us, and God makes a way for us to live in the harmony with God’s love through Christ. I hope you enjoy these songs, and the message of hope they contain.

JOHN THE BAPTIST PROCLAIMS
The scriptures reveal that prophet Elijah would come as a voice and presence in the world before the coming of the Messiah. John the Baptist symbolized that spirit of Elijah in the world, announcing that he was a “voice crying out in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord!” This song reminds us that God is constantly present and coming into our lives, but we must be prepared to receive this blessing if we want it to have its greatest effect. God can “speak and reach” us much easier if we live expecting to encounter the transforming Spirit of God as we go about our day by day existence in the world. The prophetic spirit calls us to be ready to experience the Christ!

This song rejoices in the birth of the Christ child, an event that symbolizes God’s willingness and ability to enter into human life as an agent of blessing and truth. God love and grace is for all people, a blessing that deserves a cry of hosanna and glory from all of us.

God is not distant and far away, but near and close at hand. “Hay and Hope” emphasizes the ability and effort of God to pervade all realms of existence: the Hay symbolizes nature of life we know most clearly in human existence, the “Hope” symbolizes the life spirit of God that moves throughout all the creation. Reality is both “Hay and Hope,” a reality that finds the Christ revealing a way that builds bridges of faith, hope, and love.
MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS
Mary, the mother of Jesus, loved her child, and nurtured him into life. She was a profound influence on him, an example of faith and Godly love. The scriptures call her “blessed,” and story of Jesus birth is recounted as a divine blessing that was only worthy of someone with faithful, humble qualities like Mary. Perhaps the story of Mary can serve to remind us today that as we live humbly before God we are in the best orientation to receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit of Christ.

Every day is Christmas! This song proclaims that as we live in Christ we are living in the Christmas spirit: that is what makes Christmas. It’s not one day, but any day, and any time, that we live in the spirit of Christ and love as Jesus loved. May you have a merry Christmas every day!

The presence of Jesus Christ is a healing presence in the world. Through love, God is able to transform our hearts and open our eyes to what is good, loving, and true. Through God’s Holy Spirit love, we are drawn into a new life in which we can experience the power of God to radically change us, and the power of God to help us see who we are and how we relate to God.
JOYOUS MORN
In all moments of the day, God is a joyous blessing that brings life and strength. In the morn, the day, the eve, and the night, God is with us, a joyous blessing of love!
HOLY, GRACIOUS, WONDERFUL
Grace is a wonderful blessing of God. As we live in Christ, we are able to see ever more clearly the gracious love of God that forgives us of any wrong doing. Holy, gracious, wonderful; awesome is God’s love!
GLORY TO GOD
The Lukan Gospel story depicts the angels telling the shepherds in the field of the birth of the Christ child. They are heard singing, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors.” This song is a hymn of praise, singing like the angels of God’s goodwill and love. The Lukan story reveals that God is near and willing to be among us to help us and care for us. Surely, such a God is worthy to be praised.
THE WORSHIPING WISE MEN
The story of the magi following the star is both mysterious and understandable. On the one hand, the magi seem to come from mysteriously from the east, somehow guided to a particular house in which Jesus lives. Yet, the story is understandable in the sense that God is revealing Christ to the world and all people are drawn to the light of Christ. This sone tells the story of Jesus, the magi, and the wrath of Herod who sought to kill the child. It is a song that rejoices in Jesus Christ, the light of the world.
JESUS, BABY JESUS
This simple hymn ponders the many names and ways of Christ. It is a hymn of praise and worship declaring that the Lord is worthy to be praised!
