".the best of trip-hop, prog and alt-rock, soaring like some lost track from Radiohead''s OK Computer. Gaunt has injected these songs with enough raw power to be tapped as an alternative energy source." -- Sydney Morning Herald

Welcome to Halcyon Dazed, an album conceived by Nathan Gaunt, which was written, recorded and distributed entirely through the digital medium.
After returning to Perth from New York City’s Famed Fashion week, where Nathan was commissioned to write music for a high-profile runway show, the idea for Halcyon Dazed was born.
The feelings that had bottled up inside him needed something more than his singer-songwriter persona could convey. His only choice was to use a completely different palette of songwriting and sounds – including production techniques he’d gathered over various outside projects – and he ended up creating a new genre for himself. Every song different; only the voice ties it together as a whole.
From the prog-rock sounds of “Erased,” to the classical string and baroque arrangements over club beats (“Chiaroscuro”), to trip-hop influences (“Intensity”) and ethno-rock (“Kali Underground”), Nathan has proven once again that his talent extends past just a guitar and a voice. Halcyon Dazed takes him from the realm of award-winning singer and songwriter to the multi-dimensional world of producer, engineer and musician.
Which brings us to yet another realm - that of modern technology. Since it was created specifically for digital distribution, there was no need to wait around for manufacturing and shipping of CDs to shops. Halcyon Dazed was available for sale literally within hours of its final mastering. Instant gratification ensued worldwide.
“Not only did Halcyon Dazed allow me to explore genres that were a little foreign to me,” says Gaunt, “but it allowed the opportunity to immediately be able to connect with people directly through music. I felt no pressures of commercialism. It was like I was hardwiring people to the music I could hear in my head.”
It doesn’t stop here. Halcyon Dazed is just the beginning of a plan to create two different avenues for Nathan’s constantly-flowing creativity. One persona – more mainstream, who releases physical CDs in his classic singer-songwriter guise. The other avenue - a slightly fractured genre-bending personality which releases music through the digital medium – through various online stores, including his own global independent store located at https://www.tradebit.com.
(Please note, a very limited edition of this album was manufactured and available here while supplies last. Every copy of the CD is hand-numbered.)
