Hola!
I am Nicolas Perez, native of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I am 18 years old and in my senior year of High School at the American School of Puerto Vallarta. There has always been music in my life...my Mexican dad plays and sings, and my American mom directs musical theater. But I didn''t realize how ingrained music is into my being until I picked up a guitar and started writing and singing my own songs. I have an awesome life, a great family, the best friends ever....but I only feel real and whole when I have a guitar in my hands and I am able to express myself with my words and music. I love playing for my friends and for strangers...this summer I played coffee shops in Redondo Beach and 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Ca. and it was great to see people appreciate my music and bring the whole experience full circle. I spend my free time surfing, playing soccer, snowboarding (by my grandparents house in California....no snow in Puerto Vallarta.) skateboarding and hanging at the beach with my friends.
Growing up in Mexico has been great, we have a huge extended family and do all of the traditional things for holidays and special occasions...Viva Mexico! I have a brother named Richie who goes to University of Miami, and a sister Sofia who is 14. We all get along and I thank all of my family for being so supportive of my music. You might hear my sister in the future sing backups, she has an amazing voice! I get to spend a lot of time in the states, and I love both countries for different reasons. I speak fluent Spanish, but for some reason my music comes out in english. Maybe that''s cuz our home is pretty much in English, and most of the music I love the most is in english. Tal vez.....
