Introducing:
Rachel Brill

A Folksinger with Deep Roots in the Music of the Ages

Rachel Brill was born singing and playing music. From the time of her birth in New York in the 1950''s, Rachel''s life has revolved in and around the music that fills her heart and forms the song of her soul. From a folk singing career that blossomed in the coffee houses and pubs of New York in the early 70''s, Rachel''s music quickly branched out into the world: Israel, Italy, Ireland, France and Belgium. On her native soil, she sang her way through New York, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia, before taking her music to California in the late 1980''s. Ever studying her passion, Rachel is at once a teacher, musician and vocalist, whose performances have struck chords in the hearts of audiences on three continents over three decades.

Rachel''s songs are drawn from a wealth of international folklore, truth and tradition. Singing with a rich, pure, voice that rises from the depths of her being, American, Irish, Yiddish and Hebraic flavors season her repertoire as she accompanies herself on guitar and Celtic harp. Her repertoire is expansive and various, a joyous and moving experience. She offers ancient Biblically inspired music and song as well as modern composed numbers.

Successful as both a soloist and group performer, Rachel Brill''s experience is impressive and expansive. From the mid seventies through the eighties, Rachel performed as lead singer in Gush Egozan, a band specializing in Israeli music with bluegrass instrumentation. Gush Egozan performs today predominantly in Israel. Other music affiliations have included: Former lead singer in King David''s Harp (international spiritual music with Celtic instrumentation) and Har Monika (a group of folk musicians in the Washington, D.C. area during the eighties). In the late 1990''s, Rachel began "Momma''s Midlife Crisis," a group of women folk musicians in California playing primarily Celtic music. Presently, Rachel Brill lives in Los Angeles where she sings and continues to pour her heart and soul into her music wherever and whenever she can.
