Not Waving But Drowning is a baroque rock band from New York City. Their songs feature 3- and 4-part vocal harmonies, literate and provocative lyrics, and deftly arranged acoustic and electric melodies. Their debut album, Any Old Iron, incorporates elements from gypsy punk to Weimar torch songs to old-time sea shanties, while remaining tightly wedded to its song-driven pop sensibility. NWBD recorded Any Old Iron with renowned producer Stewart Lerman (Laurie Anderson, Dar Williams, Loudon Wainright) at Water Music in Hoboken, NJ.
