Heartsfield

Heartsfield toured throughout the 70’s and 80’s, spreading its infectious brand of foot-stompin’, good-time Vocal Rock in nearly every state across the country. Performing 200 to 300 tour dates per year, they played scores of concert venues, clubs, festivals, parties, and college campuses, and became overwhelming favorites on FM radio stations around the country. Many of their loyal fans later admitted to seeing them play dozens of times, while their followers abroad formed several avid fan clubs.

Along the way, Heartsfield recorded four studio albums for Mercury and Columbia Records (several of which hit the Billboard charts) and attained the respect of the entire music industry while being paired with such acts as Charlie Daniels, Eric Clapton, Loggins & Messina, Fleetwood Mac, .38 Special, The Guess Who, Dickey Betts, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Feat, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and more.

Heartsfield was one of the true forerunners of today’s popular Americana/Alt-Country/Jam Band movement, and have equally garnered tremendous respect from the younger players carrying on that tradition. Originally formed in 1972 by Perry Jordan with J.C. Hartsfield, both from the South but living in the Midwest, the band developed a distinctive Southern flavor with unique vocal arrangements. These vocals, along with guitars, bass, drums, mandolins, fiddles, and jaw harps, among other instruments, created a charismatic blend of country, rock, folk, blues, and jazz.

Jordan quickly emerged as a focal point of the group as a lead singer and major songwriter, penning such hits as “House of Living,” “Racin’ the Sun,” “As I Look Into the Fire,” “Another Man Down,” “I’m Comin’ Home,” “Music Eyes,” and “The Only Time I’m Sober Is When You’re Gone.” Heartsfield has since reformed with new members and, with Jordan once again at the helm, has brought back that crowd-pleasing sound that is taking off again. Six additional albums have since been released.

At any performance, Heartsfield shows are full of fun, up-tempo, foot-stompin’ music that gets the crowd involved, singin’ and dancin’ away. The band delivers on its promise of hot pickin’, strong vocals, driving rhythm, and smiles from the stage, which have allowed them to last over three decades and still continue going strong. With ten CDs and two in the works, the best is yet to come. So in the words of the self-proclaimed “German Hillbilly Song Rider” Jordan, KEEP ON SMILIN’.
