Details:
The Nobby Reed Project released it''s sixth CD-"Moonlight Drivin" on Oct
18,2004.
The cd is a milestone for Reed and his premier Blues Trio as it was
produced, recorded and mixed by Nobby at NRP''s beneath The Living Room Studio
on his new AKAI 24 track DPS studio gear.
The CD was once again mastered by Andre'' Maquera at West Street Digital
in Fairfield,Vt. giving the disc a very professional unified tonality, warm
with crisp but not overbearing top end.
The Project dishes out a generous 15 new songs, opening with the title
track, a bouncy, rockin'' tour de force.
For those who have followed NRP since the beginning there''s a noticeable
maturity and refinement to Nobby''s guitar tone thanks to a new vermont made
"Zeeta-by Maven Peal" amplifier. There''s a tightness and focus very evident
to fellow musicians which really enhances the albums platform.
"Only You" chugs away with super 8th and 16th note hi-hat work from
drummer, percussionist Eric Belrose.
The influence of Carlos Santana is heard and felt on "Morning Glory".
This track also marks the first recorded appearance of Nobby''s new top of
the line Fender Acoustic guitar as well.
Nobby returns to an old theme with a glorious thunderstorm at the head
of "I Wish You Peace" a moody ballad which is one of the CD''s zeniths!
Tim Comings elderly Fender Precision Bass and SWR amp are sonically near
perfection on "Common Ground".
Tim''s love and mastery of the blues genre make this track COOK-another
of the discs strongest tracks.
For the tech minded listener, Nobby has used a tasty palette of ambient
effects to subtly color the vocal landscape; carefully used and not abused
making the vocals fresh and interesting yet uncluttered.
Other hot tracks include "Blues Is A Lady", a chicago style piece with
Tim on a tasty, laid back harmonica as well as bass."Powerful Thing" a total
rave-up. "JB" a strong tribute to the fabulous Jeff Beck, and a personal
favorite of mine."Follow Your Heart" mixed very tightly so the Project comes
off as the precision unit it truly is.
Closing out "Moonlight Drivin" is a 10 minute epic"Worried Man". This
track is sure to be a new "live" favorite of NRP fans.
The only thing missing from this package at press time are liner notes
to go with the beautiful cover photograhy by Nobby''s daughter Angela and
Nobby himself.
A truly worthy addition to the Nobby Reed Project canon of albums.
