Winnipeg-based band Honeyeyes released their first full length album entitled "Gypsyation" on October 18, 2008. Blending alt-rock with ethereal vocals, and citing influences ranging from Pink Floyd to Fleetwood Mac, Honeyeyes will captivate you with their unique melodic soundscapes. From the aggressive attack of "Possession" to the introspective first single "Goodnight", Honeyeyes takes you on a journey of intense highs and ambient lows that will remain with you long after the music has faded. With the soaring melodies of Tracy (vocals), Tim (keys), and Chad (guitar), and anchored by the rock-solid rhythm section of Dusty (drums) and Ron (bass) look for Honeyeyes to be turning heads (and ears) in the near future.
Honeyeyes was started by Chad Brown in 2003. Through his good looks and charm, Chad recruited lead vocalist Tracy Leclair and soon after secured drummer Dusty Cole when he tried to pick her up in a bar (!). With the addition of brothers Blake and Kent Thompson and John Wardrop (aka: Merk), the band was formed and songs began to emerge. Drawing on influences from bands like Fleetwood Mac, Sigur Ros, Pink Floyd, Placebo and Black Sabbath, Honeyeyes created their own unique sound cascading from ethereal vocals, epic choruses and hook-laden melodies.
With the departure of both Merk and the Thompson brothers, Honeyeyes'' lineup was solidified with the addition of bassist Ron Bedard in 2007 and keyboardist Tim Kent in 2008.
Honeyeyes has played various venues, including two music competitions (winning one show and placing second in the other), and music festivals such as the Manitoba Music Show. The band has also had three consecutive appearances at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival (2006-2008) and was a featured act for the 2008 Fringe Mainstage.
