The Broken Remotes is the brainchild of singer/guitarist Jon Leahy. Their debut full-length, Throw Me The Keys, finds him collaborating with drummer Carlos Hamma, a veteran of the SoCal underground hardcore scene, as well as producer Ronan Chris Murphy. Recorded over the course of only three days, Throw Me the Keys is a raw, live-feeling record, loaded with urgency. Leahy and Hamma allow quiet, droning songs to suddenly fall off cliffs, erupting in feedback and energy, and use these dynamics to lend musical heft to Leahy''s heartfelt, honest, and occasionally funny lyrics. Although Hamma left to pursue other musical avenues, Throw Me the Keys serves as a fitting record of his time spent with the Broken Remotes, and continues to leave aspiring drummers shaking their heads.
