MP3 Michael Remsen - Almost Up To The Sky

11 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Soundscapes, NEW AGE: Healing

Details:
Michael Remsen is another story all together. Born in Brooklyn, NY, his fame arrives from being the most serious on the block. The music in this particular record makes some people run from the room screaming! "It doesn''t sound like ordinary music''" was one comment. Well, back to him: He learned about life traveling the world with a backpack and an instrumental solo act. He has a need to save lives, hence the musical daring do. Musical influences would be the three B''s, John Cage, Wendy Carlos and little bit ''o Orb. He lives in New York, was educated Out West and doesn''t really perform. Nope, he just sits in the studio. Mr. Remsen fears, often vocally, the spread of right-hand drive automobiles.
This is dark mood. Instrumental. Electronic. Synths all the way. There''s no tempo really; no key signature; harmony is hard to grasp. No doinks and dats of percussion. You can access this. It''s kind of spacey in spots and calming in others. This music is mostly three note variations mixed up using traditional techniques. It doesn''t sound classical - maybe in some sense - but it borrows the method. Let''s call it Urban Bliss for the open road (I don''t know what that means either). Check out "Anabel" "Delia" and "See Say You" to ease you in to the feel.
There''s a new record coming soon, we''re hoping for a May 2005 release. Seriously, this music involves you on a personal level. Only 35 minutes so it can be listened to in one sitting. The radio play for this is most likely artsy late night. Can we make the market any smaller?
We don''t care. This kind of music has a place even though it''s an aquired taste. Did we mention it''s really good, as well? Typically, the folks who have this record call months afterward and say "... at first I wasn''t sure, but it''s grown on me. I''ve used it in my massage mix, I put it on at bedtime, too. Thanks..."
We are shooting one (possibly two) videos from this cd: Delia is a series of stills of family known only in photos. "See Say You" will be an urban landscape. It''s an interesting challenge but we think it''ll rock - you know in that New Age blissful ambient sort of way. We''ll update the world when they''re ready.
I say give it a listen and report back.
