"I will sing of Your love and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing praise."
-Psalm 101:1- (NIV)

Over centuries, the Lord has used the powerful anointing of music to whisper to the hearts of His people. As we prepare for "Spiritual Warfare" in these perilous "Last Days", we can take comfort and shelter in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through powerful, infectious vocals along with the intricate and moving rhythm tracks that Gospel Music provides. It is sure to minister to both the "Saved" and "Unsaved" spirit.

God has given this gift of music to Brother Ray Harper, a member of Pastor Donnie McClurkin''s Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York. Harper, along with his contemporary gospel group, "The Reign With Him Ensemble" are about to "Bless The Lord" with their anxiously awaited, debut recording project, "Christ; The Groove Of Life", which is slated for a May 10th release date.

Ray Harper was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 10th, 1961. Ray is a proud, God-fearing family man, who loves Him more and more every day of his life. He earnestly says, "God sings life through me. I am not perfect, no one is. However, I possess an intense desire to really, really please God."

With a strong Christian background, Ray''s family church affiliations were diverse and included Washington Temple C.O.G.I.C and The Institutional C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop F.D. Washington and Bishop Carl E. Williams respectively. As an adult, Ray visited the Brooklyn Tabernacle under the stewardship of Pastor Cymbala where he experienced the move of God in his life. He later joined Brooklyn Tabernacle Deliverance Center under the late Bishop James F. Copeland.

As a youngster, Ray was approximately seven years old when he realized his penchant for music. He was given a lead in the Children''s Choir of Institutional C.O.G.I.C and sang "Deep Down In My Heart" under the direction of Betty Cooper. According to Ray, "My love and desire to play and sing constantly grew. My dad, George Harper was a Reverend who played the piano and organ, while my Mom, Ethel Harper was a Milliner. She made many a hat for women in C.O.G.I.C, she was well known in Memphis at C.O.G.I.C.''s Holy Convocation Conference. Creativity was instilled in me from the very beginning," he reminisces.

However, even under his strict Christian background, Ray Harper left the Church and decided to seek the so-called "challenges the world". For a good while, he and his long-time friend Wayne Walker preformed throughout the New York Tri-State area. They called themselves Rayne, a combination of the names Ray and Wayne. The duo continued to hone their musical talents together, as well as composing several secular songs. However, Ray was not prepared for what God had in store for him. In the interim, Ray had accepted a job offer that relocated him to Seattle, Washington. While in Seattle, he and Wayne (who was still living on the East Coast) continued their musical collaboration. It was during this time that Ray began to feel the tugging of the Lord on his heartstrings. "Music was my passion, but something was happening to me on the inside. It was no longer in R&B. I felt compelled to return to Gospel. "

In his testimony, Ray remembers, "I was in my condo watching R.W. Shambach on TBN and at that very moment I re-committed my life to the Lord. I was alone and crying my heart out to God. Through my tears I heard the Lord speak to me - - He asked me, "What are you going to do with your music?" I then made a vow to God from that day forward, I would only write, sing and produce music that glorified Him. Since then, I have completely lost my taste and desire for secular music. Even when I try to write it, nothing happens. From that special moment, I have continued to write songs that glorify God as I try to live a righteous and holy life.

Ray eventually left Seattle and relocated back to Brooklyn. Rayne, as it was formerly referred to was disbanded. Ray himself began to recruit members in 1996 for what is now known as, "Ray Harper and The Reign With Him Ensemble". After undergoing several "personnel changes", the current vocal line-up includes two of the original members from the group, Ray''s wife, India Harper & Paula Lucius. Terri Darlington, Dawn Tallman, Erica Shipman, David Clark and Ray''s niece Christina West are now the new members of what is affectionately referred to as RWH. Band members include Wayne Walker (Ray''s original partner in Rayne), Ian "Wolfman" Williams, and Rodney Camps on keyboards, Marty Pointer on drums, Grant Hall on bass, William Pointer on percussion, and Melvin Smith on sax. The lyrics of the songs that Ray Harper writes and sings is best described as "Word" heavy while the music encompasses a universal rhythm and melody. Ray''s musical influences include, "GOD (unconditionally) - - for He placed the songs in me, I only put them to paper; Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Bishop Marvin L. Winans, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, Kenny Loggins, Patti Austin and Michael McDonald."

Ray Harper & The Reign With Him Ensemble are self-proclaimed Ministers and Ambassadors for Christ, and are determined to win souls for the Lord through their music.

Ray Harper desires for the Lord to continue to use him as His servant. When you hear Ray quote Bishop Marvin L. Winans from his "Friends" album, "None of me and all of Thee", Ray means it from his heart. While Ray Harper & The Reign With Him Ensemble prepares to set off on their musical career internationally, you can be sure that they will continue to keep God first and foremost in their lives.

In closing, Ray reminds us that, "You never know what path God will lead you to, or what the future holds - - but you can be sure that if it is His will, He will only take you places where you need to go." For Ray Harper & The Reign With Him Ensemble, the sky is the limit!!! Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow!!!
