In Spring 2007, while Britain prepared itself for the summer, something darker was being born in the backstreets of Brighton. 5 musicians, some classically trained, others with punk and rock roots were coming together to form a sound contrary to the floppy haired, tired guitar riffs around them.
Using the unusual addition of a string section and a piano driven female fronting, Birdeatsbaby stalked their way from the shadows into the light. In live shows they explode theatrically onto the stage, bringing the audience a fragile yet frightening experience and on CD one has the opportunity to delve deeper into the brutally honest and witty lyrics. While difficult to pigeonhole, some reviewers have tried saying “a female Divine Comedy with behavioural problems” and “if Tim Burton had a band…”
After playing their first gig just over a year ago, they have recorded their first EP and are planning the release of their album “Here She Comes-a-Tumblin’” for Spring 2009. The result of this strange and twisted band of musicians is something melodic and beautiful, powerful, epic and ultimately fun.
