NEW AGE: New Age, CLASSICAL: New Age

Details:
Composer/contemporary pianist Richard Carr, native of St. Louis, Missouri, now living in the French Quarter of New Orleans is currently recording and preparing for the fall and winter tours. Richard''s annual Christmas concert tour will come to several new cities on the tentative schedule - ending once again in St. Louis.
Richard''s music has been favorably compared to Keith Jarrett, George Winston and David Lanz. His concerts are highlighted by his apparent ease at the piano or keyboard and his passionate playing. Most of his audiences are also treated with a new composition or improvisation created on the spot.
Carr''s improvisational composition style is full of melodic lines and rich harmonies indicative of the classical influences of the American, Russian and French composers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Additionally, more modern influences as diverse as Mannheim Steamroller, Tangerine Dream, John Adams, Keith Jarrett, Cole Porter, Thomas "Fats" Waller, Steve Reich, George Winston, and George Gershwin are also evident.

With his first three releases, Through the Mind''s Eye, Fogland, and An American Quixote, Richard introduced his unique blend of classical music, jazz, and pop resulting in a romantic new age/contemporary piano style that is soothing to the soul, mind and body. ReleasingWhen Soul & Heart Collide and Christmas Fireside simultaneously in October 2000, Richard gave his listeners some new compositions and his own interpretations of some of the holiday favorites. It also showcased the further development of Carr''s unique improvisational style of composition.
With his sixth release in less than five years, American Reflection, Richard''s tribute to the 225th anniversary of American independence was inspired by visits to national monuments and feelings invoked upon his reflections of historical events. Richard included his very first composition from 25 years ago, and created a stirring arrangement of America the Beautiful.
Both When Soul & Heart Collide and Christmas Fireside reached #4 rankings in the New Age Voice Radio Top 100 chart. When Soul & Heart Collide spent a total of seven months on the chart including three months in the top ten. Christmas Fireside debuted at #4 in December 2000 and reappeared at #55 in December 2001.
An American Quixote, released August 6, 1999, explored the vision of Cervantes'' Don Quixote through the eyes of a twentieth century American. It reached #31 in the New Age Voice Radio Top 100 chart. An American Quixote was 1st Runner-up for the New Age Album of the Year for the Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2000. The title track, An American Quixote, was 1st Runner-up for the Instrumental Song of the Year for the Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2000.

ABOUT THROUGH THE MIND''S EYE:
This album is Richard''s first CD. Recorded in the summer of 1997, it came from the recording sessions that were intended to be for a demo tape for Richard to get more jobs as a pianist in New Orleans. These improvisations were done at the end of the sessions to wind down from trying to get perfect recordings of some cover tunes.
When the New Age Voice Radio Top 50 changed to the Top 100, Through the Mind''s Eye immediately charted at #97 after several months of promoting. To date, it is still heard on new age radio shows, cable and digital radio systems with some regularity.
There are very few copies left of Through the Mind''s Eye for sale. It has been remastered and is will be available very soon for digital downloading. There are no current plans to reprint the CD.
