Details:
"First Sight" is Rick Muir''s 4th CD since 1996 and the first to be made commercially available.

A brief history:
Rick found an old Harmony acoustic guitar stashed away in his Grandmother''s linen closet when he was eight years old and played it whenever possible. Eventually that guitar was handed down to him and now hangs on the wall in his studio. Rick''s dad was a big fan of Hank Williams and later in life, he was a fan of anything that could fit in the Bakersfield sound category. Rick''s mother loved gospel singing. Somehow, in this environment, Rick went through his formative years as a Jimi Hendrix fan but with little luck converting his dad from Buck Owens to Jimi, Rick found it more satisfying to become a fan of both Buck and Jimi and many other musicians spread from Robert Johnson to Gershwin.

In 1999, Rick produced a CD entitled "Live from Ladera Vista." "Ladera Vista is Spanish for "stepped" or "laddered view". He then left Austin for the Big Bend Country - Deep West Texas to rest in the heat, and allow himself to once again become overwhelmed by clear night skies and a slower, simpler pace of contemplation, writing and observing nature.

From that journey, came a CD called "Around the Bend". Rick had a brief encounter in Marathon, Texas with a man who was later referred to by residents as "our local angel". On the main street in Marathon outside an old railroad hotel, the man told Rick, he should become a singer and waste no time in making it happen. He referred to the resonance in Rick''s voice and depth of feeling in his words and simply told him that it would be a shame if he didn''t become what he was here to be.

Rick returned to Austin and produced another CD called "Imagine A Horse" and continued writing, recording, singing and playing in local roadhouses, cafes, wherever an appreciative audience could be found.

The latest CD is "First Sight" which includes a few of the previously recorded songs, re-recorded in studio with added instrumentation, and newly written songs moving toward a stronger, more confident style.

Listener comments about "Louisiane";
"Great piece of work...Plays like a good book, captivating so that you don''t want to put it down until you''re finished...Guitar work here is awesome, not overdone and perfectly fitting...The harp ties the feeling all together!"- H.R.

"I''ve always liked the acoustic guitar and harmonica combination on tunes; Bob Dylan and Neil Young are two of my favorites. This song is excellent and very original sounding. Your vocals sound great over that lonesome music bed. I liked everything about this one."- L.W.

Listener comment about "Disappearing."
"My god...I''m wondering what took me so long to find your music. Well, it seems that it''s been worth the wait, most definitely. I admire the simplicity and at the same time, the effectiveness of the way you play and sing. It kind of brings to my mind Nick Drake, in a way. I''ve always loved music such as this, very stripped down, raw, and naked, if you will, nothing to hide behind...none of that overly polished, over-produced expensive studio stuff. The honesty that had to have gone into this song, so very excellent! Keep doing what you''re doing, my friend............much peace and love..." -S.

Listener comment about "Empty Sky"
"True talent shines like a beacon in a desolate wilderness. A true narrative style and a wonderful voice. The last survivor of the songwriting tradition."- H.T.G.
