**********************************************Español************************************************* Unión Gris da sus primeros pasos en Miami, FL en el año 1992 cuando toma su primer nombre “Separate Union” (dicho en Ingles) y empieza a tocar covers en fiestas. Un año después, los integrantes se animan a escribir varias canciones originales en Español e Ingles y la banda hace presentaciones en varios lugares locales de Miami, Florida. En 1995 se empieza la búsqueda de un nombre que identifique a la agrupación con sus raíces latinas y repertorio en Español. Después de una larga lista de nombres se deciden por Materia Gris and in 1997 la banda, como Materia Gris, entra al estudio de grabación y hacen un demo de 3 canciones: “A Tu Lado”, “Ella Baila Sola”, y “Un Retrato En La Pared”.A finales de 1997 la banda tiene una presentación en el Club Tropigala en el Fontainebleau Hilton Resort Miami Beach durante el certamen de Miss Nicaragua USA, sin saber que sería la última vez que tocarían juntos por mucho tiempo. A principios de 1998, el primer single, “A Tu Lado”, explota en Nicaragua cuando varias emisoras radiales son inundadas con llamadas por radio-oyentes solicitando la canción. “A Tu Lado” llega al primer lugar en Nicaragua y se mantuvo en el Top 10 por más de 25 semanas. “A Tu Lado” tuvo tanto impacto en Nicaragua que hoy en día (2008), 11 años después de su lanzamiento, se sigue escuchando en la radio. En el 2006, empiezan pláticas para hacer grabaciones de las canciones originales que nunca fueron grabadas. Una vez más, el grupo se reanima a grabar nueve canciones nunca antes grabadas y también re-graban las tres canciones del demo que lanzaron en el ’97. Durante estas grabaciones los integrantes deciden lanzar el disco oficialmente y se embarcan en buscar un nuevo nombre ya que varios grupos estaban usando el nombre Materia Gris públicamente. Después de extensivas listas de nombres, finalmente el grupo se decide en combinar los dos nombres anteriormente usados y se lanzan como Unión Gris. ***********************************************English*************************************************** Unión Gris has its origins in Miami, FL in 1992 when it takes its first name “Separate Union” and begins to play covers at parties. In early 1998, the first single “A Tu Lado” explodes in Nicaragua when several radio stations are flooded with calls by fans requesting the song. “A Tu Lado” reaches number 1 in Nicaragua and it remained in the Top 10 for more than 25 weeks. “A Tu Lado” had such an impact in Nicaragua that today (2008), 11 years after its release, it is still playing on the https://www.tradebit.com 2006 the band members start conversations about recording the original songs that were never recorded. One more time, the band gets excited about recording nine new songs never before recorded and they also re-record the three original songs launched in ’97. During the recording sessions they decide to officially launch a CD and the members embark in finding a new name, as other bands were already using the name “Materia Gris” publicly. After extensive lists of names, the band decides in combining the two names used previously and they become “Unión Gris”.
