A Perenial Boston live favorite for most of the 90''s Rippopotamus capitalized on a termendous reputation for it''s live show, and put out a total of 6 records in it''s 11 year career. From 1990''s EP ''N Din Som to 2001''s R.I.P. Their records got great reviews from such notable publications as The Boston Globe, Village Voice, Modern Drummer and Bass Player Magazines.
An eight piece funk/rock powerhouse, Rippo, as they were known to their fans were not afraid to stomp as hard as Rage, or swing it as smooth as Us3. They received many award nominations and won both Valley Advocate Readers Poll and Boston Music Awards. In 2001 Rippopotamus won one final award (Boston Phoenix/WFNX Readers Poll Award) and after a decade plus of remarkable work announced the band would release a final record called "R.I.P" and call it quits.
