This guy is for real.

The Man
Combining his eclectic influences and compositional training, guitarist/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Rob Hornfeck has created his own path in the world of music. With music ranging from challenging odd-timed Zappa-inspired pieces to flat-out P-funk grooves, Rob knows no boundaries. Hailing from the Northern Virginia area just outside of Washington DC, Rob Hornfeck was previously the lead guitarist for the funk-rock band Babyfat. They toured the country and released three EPs and two full-length CDs, the last having national distribution. Rob released his first CD "The Rob Album" in 2001 and formed THE ROB HORNFECK ENTERPRISE (RHE). The band plays primarily in the Washington DC area, with occasional treks up and down the east coast. "How Do I Know You?" was released in 2003, and is the second release from Hornfeck.

"...a well-balanced album that is interesting enough to listen to from start to finish in one sitting."

The Music
"The title track is the story of my life" says bandleader Rob Hornfeck. "Through playing with Babyfat and RHE, I''ve played music in many towns up and down the east coast, and I''ve met a ton of people in each town. Later when I see them again, I always seem to find myself forgetting people''s names and how I met them. Odds are that when I did meet them, it was after a show, and I wasn''t running on full brain capacity. Good thing we have the word ''dude'' in our vocabulary." Hornfeck adds: "If you know my musical history, you''ll realize that this tune is based on the old Babyfat theme song, but played backwards."

"The album is odd, very odd...Weenlike with a healthy dose of early Beck thrown in..."
-Laurin Wollan, Music Monthly Magazine

"''Run, Rerun'' was written after driving around all day listening to Frank Zappa," explains Hornfeck. "This was written during the whole DC-area sniper events. The double-time section was written while my wife and I were coming home from a club one evening. When we arrived at the club, before we got out of my car, we gave each other a kiss. We were both worried that one of those moron snipers would pick one of us off, since they had previously killed a few people just going about their day-to-day business. We jumped out of my car and were ducking and running to get to the club. We were laughing the whole time, but there was some serious stuff going underneath."

The final song on the CD will sound familiar to fans of Babyfat, since it is also the final song on B-fat''s "Tested on Animals". "This song wrote itself in one night", says Rob. "My brother and I had won free tickets to see an amazing line-up in Baltimore. Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Isley Brothers, and The Ojays all on one bill...nothing but grooves and positivity! After the show we ended up at the old 8x10 club watching an amazing reggae band whose name I can''t remember (*see ''How Do I Know You'' paragraph*). My brother was asleep in the car during the drive home, so I had this nice little groove going on in my head during the entire ride. We got home around 4 am, and the song was complete by sunrise. I love the Babyfat version, but I wanted to redo it using more of a traditional quarter-note-kick groove. Plus, the whole thing was written about my wife, so I wanted to sing it!"
