MP3 Raman Sachdev - Emptiness

Seven songs about emptiness...

7 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, ROCK: Folk Rock

Details:
Raman Sachdev has been writing music since the age of thirteen. After playing drums for four years, he picked up the guitar and found his true passion. To date he has written about thirty-five full songs, and he is always in the middle of two or three more. Musically Raman''s music travels across a spectrum of major and minor chords, but it is the lyrics that are most important to his pieces. "I just write what I feel. I''ve been asked what my inspiration is. I''ll pick my chords and the music based on my mood, and I''ll wait - sometimes it comes right away, but sometimes it takes days - for a flow of thoughts to translate into lyrics." He finds solace listening to singers/songwriters like Jeff Buckley and the Red House Painters'' Mark Kozelek. "Sure their music is rather depressing, but it''s because of those heavyhearted lyrics and music that I feel a connection. You don''t get that kind of honesty from a lot of the music in the market nowadays. It''s refreshing to hear people sing about the same things I feel and be so open about it." His dominant themes in his music are love and loneliness, although there are some other tones. He uses irony in his thoughts on drinking and drug use, and even manages to bring a sense of hope to his music. But like most music, Raman''s songs cannot be described to you. You have to listen to them yourself.

Raman''s musical career began back when he was only 5 or 6 years old. He sang in the school choir and continued with that until college. He performed in small ensembles throughout junior high school and high school, and acted in a few musical productions. Raman started to play the drums in the 4th grade, and quickly learned to play the set. He played for his junior high school jazz band and with a couple other independent bands as well. He left the drums, however, for a more captivating instrument: the guitar. Like many musicians, Raman taught himself how to play. "I remember spending 350 pesos on a small, cheap, but beautiful guitar in Mexico. After that I was hooked." He quickly adapted to the fret-board and six strings of his instrument. "What really helped was the drumming. Because of that I had an innate sense of timing." In high school Raman''s career with singing/songwriting began to flourish. He used to spend nights staying up writing music, and he has many recorded tapes with all his material-in-process. He played in the high school ''Battle of the Bands'' two years, and at several other functions. "Playing on stage is the best part of it all. It''s where you really feel alive." Although nowadays his live performing has decreased, he plans to begin playing out much more.

Raman is currently living in Illinois where he plays in the south suburban Chicago area. He is currently attending Loyola to finish his last couple years of college. "I will continue to write music, regardless of whether or not I''m successful in the commercial market. It''s an honor to play before any size venue." Raman will continue to pursue his passion for music and he hopes you will join him in the process.
