Hi, my name is Laura Sailer. I am a solo acoustic vocalist/guitarist with a style comparable to Joni Mitchell. Of course, some of my songs have a definite edge, thus I can also be compared to Ani DiFranco or Alanis Morissette (except Ani is a WAY better guitarist--I would chop off my boobs to be able to play like her, and with those NAILS to boot, but, I digress). Some artists whom I greatly admire include Dave Matthews, Matchbox 20, The Barenaked Ladies, Tori Amos, Avril Lavigne, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Ani and Alanis, of course, R.E.M., Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan...I could go on all day, but I won''t, because, hopefully you want to know more about me than my musical tastes.
I have been singing all my life and playing acoustic guitar for seven years. I have been playing professionally in the Toledo area for about a year, and that because I just bought my own equipment recently. Some examples of places I play include Maxwell''s Brew, Rick''s Coffeehouse, The Bronze Boar, The Easystreet Cafe, The Emporium, as well as festivals and talent shows when they come up. I have also been guilty of singing karaoke on occasion--you know you love it too, don''t lie. I have also appeared on Toledo Idol on Fox Toledo News.
Aside from music, I am a giant social justice nerd with a bachelor''s in sociology from the University of Toledo. I love to people watch and can be easily addicted to reality shows. I work at Luther Home of Mercy as an activities assistant and also sub as a habilitation specialist at the Lucas County Board of MR/DD. I also love to paint, write, and dance, but decided music was definitely my main passion...literally, as I have no boyfriend or husband or kids, just my cat, cockatiel, and tetra fish, named, respectively, Booger, Drew, and Rainbow.
