Formation: June 1998 - Amadeus X had met Sonny at a restaurant in May 1998. He overheard Sonny singing Dio''s "Last in Line". Impressed, he struck up a conversation with him and the two became fast friends. Over the next four years, they wrote music and played around the Michigan/Ohio area with different lineups of the band. While people took notice, the chemistry just wasn''t happening - that is until Tom Hart came on the scene....
In late 2001, SBU was playing a show at a premier rock club in Detroit, where they met Tom Hart while he was playing in the death metal band "Dead Zone". Over the next six months the two bands would meet up at various shows. April 2002 saw a new turning point for Sonny and Deus. Tired of playing with guys who could not give the kind of level they wanted, everyone was let go. On a tip from SBU''s manager (Stephanie Bowers) that "Dead Zone" had broken up, Tom was asked to join the group. Now with a new drummer on board and Fusion bassist Ricky Travis back with the group, they could turn their attention to writing and recording an EP that would be "Soul Divide". A chance meeting with the legendary drummer Bill Whyte (Halloween/Abandon) after he had just opened his studio (One-Eye Blind Studios) led to his co-producing the project with Amadeus & Sonny. Recorded August thru October 2002, "Soul Divide" was well received. A ton of shows later (including a win at a "battle of the bands"), SBU went into 2003 with one mission: Time for the next level. Incoming - "Badass" Kenny Gill.
As February 2003 came to a close, Ricky Travis was ready move on to a solo career. Amadeus was web surfing late one night when Kenny Gill''s ad fell into his lap! A call the next day led to Kenny agreeing to an audition. Three notes later....
Nov 03 thru Jan 04,the band started recording the full length CD "Grounded". With X and Bill Whyte producing.
