MP3 Scott Miller - The Other Side

Original New Orleans/Delta/Barrelhouse Piano-Blues, with rich soulful vocals.

9 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Piano Blues, BLUES: Blues Vocals

Details:
"The Other Side" is on the money! What fun to hear those barrelhouse, boogie, and blues elements coming together - shades of Little Feat, The Band, Dr. John. (Miller''s extensive touring with Big John Dickerson has surely paid off.) Paul Mayasich''s tasty National Guitar licks really grab and keep one''s attention. Miller''s soulful, limber piano playing is matched at every step by his infectious singing voice, full of personality, grit and humor.
- October, 2002 David Adler: Freelance writer for Down Beat; All About Jazz

"The Other Side" is jam-packed with very good piano-based songs. The New Orleans influence is fairly easy to detect, although Miller''s attitude is closer to that of the likes of Anders Osbourne in that he seems to want to take the classic sound and do something extra with it. Miller has certainly achieved this from the producer''s chair, and has the vocal and piano playing talents to back it all up. "The Other Side" is a very fine debut album indeed, and on this evidence Scott Miller seems destined to go a long way.

In 1998, Scott joined forces with the International Contemporary Blues band, Big John Dickerson and Blue Chamber. Touring extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, and wrote songs for their 1999 CD release; Arms of the Blues (Cannonball Records). Such as: "How Long", "When the Sun Goes Down" and "When I''m Gone" with Paul Mayasich. Produced by veteran Jim Gaines, this CD won the year 2000 "Blues Recording Artist of the Year" (Minnesota Music Awards).

Since teamed up with drummer Mark O''Day, bassist John Iden, and guitarist Paul Mayasich. The band is currently performing and booking tours to support the new CD, Scott Miller - The Other Side. They continue to gain further exposure in the Contemporary Blues market.

Drawing songwriting inspiration from writers like John Hiatt, Dr. John and Taj Mahal, and reflecting a piano style reminiscent of Otis Spann, Pinetop Perkins, Professor Longhair and Amos Milburn, Scott Miller is receiving great interest as a true "roots" pianist, singer and songwriter.
