BIOGRAPHY

Terry Silverlight has been involved with many facets of the music business and has contributed his musical talents as a leader, composer, producer, arranger, drummer, author and educator to projects in almost every style of music.
Terry began his recording career at the age of 14 when he played drums on his brother Barry Miles'' innovative "White Heat" album. That recording laid the groundwork for what was later to be categorized by
others as "fusion music". Throughout high school, Terry continued to perform and record with the band "Barry Miles and Silverlight" and later attended Princeton University while studying piano with Olga Von Til. Between that time and moving to New York City, he wrote an instructional drum book entitled "The Featured Drummer" with introductions by
author/educator Jim Chapin and New York Philharmonic percussionist Morris Lang.
Since then, he has performed all over the world and has played drums on countless gold and platinum records, jingles, TV shows and movie scores with many of the world''s greatest talents including Billy Ocean, George Benson, Natalie Merchant, Freddie Jackson, Stephanie Mills, Melba Moore, Tom Jones, Change, Don Johnson, Laura Nyro, Anne Murray, Jeffrey Osborne, Mel Torme, Jennifer Holladay, John Simon (Princeton alumnus), Phil Woods, The Fania All -Stars, The CTI All-Stars, Jonathan Butler, and movie scores for "One Fine Day", "You''ve Got Mail", "Object Of My Affection", "Titus", "Frida", "Slaves Of New York", "The Butcher Boy" and "What Planet Are You From". He''s participated in countless tours and live performances with Roberta Flack, as her drummer for several years, and performances in concert halls throughout Japan on a bi-yearly basis with award-winning, all-star jazz ensemble "The Manhattan Jazz Orchestra".

Simultaneously, he''s had a career as a composer/ songwriter/ arranger/ producer having written hundreds of pieces for network shows including "One Life To Live", "The Sopranos", "All My Children", "Ed", "Jag", "Beverly Hills 90210", "The Young And The Restless", "Passions", "Guiding Light", "Seventh Heaven", jingles for Reebok, Gain Detergent, Nicorette, Pantene, Nutrament, Crisco Canola, songs in the films "Marci X" with Lisa Kudrow, "Mad About Mambo" with Keri Russell, "Head Over Heels" with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Monica Potter, "The Brady Bunch In The White House", and songs recorded on albums for Nancy Wilson, Carl Anderson, Louise (top ten, platinum-selling single in the UK on EMI Records), Maia Amada, Yasuko Agawa with Philip Ingram and Masaki Udea among others.
His debut solo artist recording "Terry Silverlight"on the CEI/Cymekob label not only features his drumming, but the entire album was composed, produced and arranged by Terry in his studio.
Terry''s bio is included in The Hollywood Reporter''s "Who''s Who In Composing" (January, 2000 issue), "Who''s Who In Entertainment ''98",
"Who''s Who In Music/Pop ''99 & ''00" and "Outstanding People of the 20th Century".
Terry currently endorses Gretsch Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Pro-Mark Drumsticks, Evans Drumheads and has written articles for and been written about in Tascam, Billboard, ASCAP''s Playback, Princeton Alumni Weekly, Princeton''s With One Accord, Modern Drummer, Drum Tracks and Percussioner magazines.

"WILD"
All music composed and arranged by Terry Silverlight. Co-produced by Terry Silverlight and Will Lee.
Featuring: Will Lee, Paul Shaffer, Edgar Winter, Hiram Bullock, Chuck Loeb, Lew Soloff, David Mann, Charles Blenzig, Mike Ricchiuti and John Clark.

"Wild" is a melding of the various styles of music I heard growing up --jazz, classical, Indian, rock, pop, R&B. I wrote the material for this album to highlight not only the virtuosity of the individual musicians, but also the dynamic ways they could come together as an ensemble. While each song lends its own distinctive musical style to the mix, and features a selection of superb soloists, the album''s overall cohesiveness springs from my own particular musical sensibility--and my sense of fun.
My first opportunity as a professional was filling the drum position in one of jazz''s groundbreaking bands under the pioneering leadership of my brother Barry Miles. "Wild" is influenced by the spirit of that music, what I heard in my childhood, and all the great moments I''ve had working with exceptional talent
along the way. I think "Wild" is an appropriate album title since it reflects my earliest experiences with music back in the "wilderness" of my youth, before I had the notion of music as a business and had acquired sophistication as a musician. It brings back the innocence I had making music as a kid. This CD
is high energy, but "wild" is the way I like it!
When planning the beginning stages of this project, I contacted Will Lee, with whom I played on several recordings over the years. I''m honored to have Will as the bassist/co-producer and grateful that he encouraged me to play this music live and record it. During the development stages, I was thrilled to have some of my favorite musicians perform with me and am delighted that several of them were able to join me on this recording.
I hope that listeners will find the album as entertaining to hear as it was for all of us to record. Get ready for the "Wild" ride!

-TERRY SILVERLIGHT
