Simpulife (pronounced Simple Life) is the creative addiction of singer/songwriter Matt Richelson. A philosophical brainstorm has led to a series of projects under this name:
(2001-2002) A world-pop ensemble- inspiring audiences of well over 1000 people at various events thrown by the Complacent Organization and Tv Static Productions.
( 2002-2003) A fierce avant-jazz quartet- making audiences move at Rifi, The Knitting Factory, and even more Tv Static Parties!
This Ep is a collection of 6 songs written by Matt in the space of a year circa 2002. The songs are based around the concept of losing touch with one''s passion, and then finding it again. Songs such as the high-energy opener "Touch," the improvisatory "Je Suis," and the driven melody of "Leave" are musical examples of this feeling.
Though Simpulife has taken a more folk-based direction to its current music, this ep demonstrates the conciousness and ambition of the artist evident even years ago.
