Details:
Over the past year and a half Cory Mon & The Starlight Gospel have quickly become one of the most exciting and talked about Utah valley bands. Fusing multiple styles into their own virtuostic sound, their music can best be described as funky-spiritual-roots-folk-rock. This hard working outfit always puts 110% into every performance. "It''s no surprise that Cory Mon & the Starlight Gospel have become one of the biggest bands in the Utah music scene. With a lot of hard work and undeniable talent they have built quite the fan base. I can always count on a positive vibe and high energy crowd when they play at my club." --Corey Fox, Velour Live Music Gallery. "Mon doesn''t wearily strum through a song with over-familiar boredom; he performs it every time like he means it--with the same conviction as the day he wrote it." --Jason Pyles, UVU music critic. "We''re kind of musical outsiders in the Utah scene" says Mon, "because what we do is so diverse, roots driven, spiritual, and funky as opposed to the prevailing secular indie and alt country sound of most bands here. It''s funny because our sound probably reflects the landscape and culture of Utah more accurately. Utah is a spiritual place, and the landscape is very diverse, from majestic mountain peaks, waterfalls, red deserts, to the central valley and the salt lake."

It''s clear that CM & the SG have hit a chord that resonates with the people of Utah and it''s surrounding states. Their fanbase keeps growing with every venue, college, and festival performance. They have become one of the few main bands to regularly perform at Provo''s premier venue Velour, which has itself been described as Utah''s "Hotel Cafe". Here they have shared the stage with touring acts such as Tom Freund, Joshua James, Christopher Williams, Keaton Simons, and Matt Jennings. Through Matt they met Chad Weis, tour manager and sound engineer for Mason Jennings, Brett Dennen, The Bad Plus, Ben Kweller, etc., and were invited to record their new album at Chad''s studio in Minneapolis. The organic quality that Chad captured in The Devil''s Workshop turned out to be the perfect fit for CM & the SG''s rootsy sound. They released the album "Six Days in the Devil''s Workshop" on Dec 5th, 2008, and are working hard at pushing this album on the road.
