ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Today''s Top 40

Details:
There is a resurgence brewing in the Boston music scene, and Six Day Slide is primed and ready to be an important player. This powerful pop-rock quartet has all the needed elements to rise to prominence on the Boston front and beyond, with great songwriting, infectious hooks, and a hard-hitting live show that never ceases to leave the crowd wanting more.

Formed from the ashes of the band Decadence (est. 1999) in early 2003, Six Day Slide immediately went to work on making a name for themselves, releasing their first, self-titled, EP in the spring of that year, and constantly playing clubs, bars and colleges throughout New England and the northeast, spreading the word and the music the old-fashioned way. The 5-song record garnered a very positive response all over the region, getting airplay on many college radio stations, including those of Boston College, Umass-Amherst, Harvard University, and Colby Sawyer College, and landing a track on Heavy Rotation Records'' "Dorm Sessions" compilation CD. Looking to follow up the success of that effort, the band headed into the studio this past October to work with Grammy-award-winning producer John Seymour (Santana, Dave Matthews , Thursday, Bouncing Souls, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.) on their brand new EP, entitled "Held Under," which was released in January. If the early buzz in any indicator, this record could very well be the one that puts the band on the map in a big way in Boston.

One of SDS''s strengths is the diversity of influences, ideas, and styles its members bring to the table. With a strong pop-rock background, lead singer David Fortin is made for the band''s unique brand of powerful radio-ready rock, and his style calls to mind the front-runners of the genre, having often been compared to Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20. Berklee-trained lead guitarist Andrew Fortin brings an amazing ear for backing vocal harmonies and an uncanny ability to play for the moment, creating a flawless mix between his vocals and guitar playing and those of his brother. Drummer Dave Jacintho (also Berklee-trained) and bassist Matt Beals seem to have an almost cerebral ability to lock in with each other''s playing and create a seamless backbone for the groove, providing the perfect compliment to each one of the band''s tight, well-crafted, hook-laden songs.

With an incredibly wide range of stylistic influences from Toad the Wet Sprocket to Taking Back Sunday to Phish to Miles Davis, these guys have a wealth of musical knowledge to draw from and keep things interesting, and, as evidenced by the strong set they played in support of the platinum-selling Sister Hazel a few months back, Six Day Slide definitely can hang with the big boys.

So keep an eye out in Boston as well as up and down the east coast for Six Day Slide, as this is most definitely a band to watch and one that will not disappoint.
