MP3 Skelter - Boomstick

NYC-based Skelter combines Britrock sensibilities with splashes of ''70s Punk - think Oasis filtered through The Who''s "Live at Leeds" album, with just a hint of the Ramones and The Jam.

Details:
The beast that would eventually evolve into Skelter was born in late 2001, the brainchild of three NYC comic-book-publishing day-jobbers who were asked to hastily throw together a one-off show for 200 of their fellow employees. Performing under the Nick Hornby-cribbed name "The Kathleen Turner Overdrive," the band found that they shared a musical spark. And so, they cocooned themselves in their Bloomfield, NJ rehearsal space and re-emerged in August 2002 as a loud, toothy, dangerous creature called "Skelter."

Singer/guitarist/songwriter Michael Wright, bassist Greg Ross and drummer Nachie Castro built a reputation over the following two years as one of the best live acts in New York City. Influenced by the likes of Oasis, The Who, The Stone Roses, T. Rex and The Beatles (natch!), Skelter has drawn rave reviews for their raucous shows, including a historically-blistering set at The Rock and Roll Circus Spectacular, held at Brooklyn''s Coney Island in August 2004.

In November 2004, Skelter released their first album, "Boomstick." The album reflects the band''s Britrock-meets-NYC Punk approach to rock and roll. From fist-clenching rockers like "NYC," "For What It''s Worth" and "Hideaway" to melodic pop masterworks like "Summer of Our Lives," "Thousand Years" and "Fade", "Boomstick" delivers 44-plus minutes of guitar-laden rock!

Beware the Skelts.
