My name is Brent Rogers a.k.a S.L.U.G.
I was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 21, 1970.
In 1975 my parents, 3 brothers and I moved to Kansas City, KS. When I was 8 years old, one of my dad''s fighting pitbulls mauled me. I almost died from the attack. When I was 11 years old,I was suffering from chronic and severe asthma. I was dying slowly from the asthma, until one day in 1981 my mother took me to a Carlton Pearson Revival. Carlton Pearson said in a healing altar call, "There is an 11-year old boy here that has very chronic asthma, GOD wants to heal you, come on up here." I poked my mother and said "mama that''s me!" So she took my hand and brought me to the altar. Carlton Pearson laid his hands on me and started praying for me. I felt my bones burning. Every
since then I haven''t had any kind of asthma in my body.
It''s like I never had it to begin with. No more medicine,breathing treatments, or hospitals. In 1989 I was living in Colorado Springs, CO with my older brother, who was in the Army. One day I was a passenger in a car that my brother''s friend was driving. My brother was following in his own car behind us. The driver of the car I was in was speeding at 90 mph. and switching lanes, but another car was there, he hit the brakes and all I remember was blacking out. When I woke up, I was standing up several feet away from the accident. The car had flipped 9 times and I was thrown out of it. Everyone was looking for me. My brother''s friend was still in the car. Someone from the other side of the highway stopped to see if I was okay. I survived with minor injuries; glass in my hip, a gash on my face and several bumps and bruises. Thank you Jesus I was alive. In the early 1990''s I moved back to Kansas City, KS. I then moved to Compton, CA and moved in with my auntie. My cousins were in one of the gangs in Compton. I started idolizing all the violence. I was writing gangsta rap. I once again moved back to Kansas City and started gang banging. I then got locked up in the county jail for 1 year. When I got out I started slanging dope and carrying guns. In 1993 I got caught selling crack to an undercover cop. When I bonded out I ran back to California. When I came back to Kansas City I was living on the streets. I was tired of being on the run. I called on the Lord in 1995 whole heartily and turned myself in to the Sherrif''s Dept. My grandmother died and I went to prison. While I was in prison I got into the prison ministry. I was baptized in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In 1996 a preacher came to the prison to minister. He told me that GOD had something very special for me and to quit looking for signs. I was released from prison in September 1997. I moved into a dope house my partners had. I had nowhere else to go. A few months went by, and one
night I had a 105 degree temp. I was very sick and dying. I cried out to the Lord for help. My bones started burning once again, like when I was a kid. I went into a very deep sleep and woke up with a revelation from the Lord. This is when I started writing Spiritual War Rap. I was off parole in December of 1999. I was free from sin and devoted my life to Jesus Christ. I performed at many talent shows and churches. I met my wife in the summer of 2000. I have done many local shows in Kansas City as well as in Topeka. In 2003 I was on a local radio station, Joy 88, telling them about my life and the mission I was on for the Lord God. They play a few of my songs every Saturday. I recently was asked to perform at the Mexican Fiesta in Topeka, KS. I pray that you will please open the door to the message I carry in my music. This is the Lord''s will, LET IT BE DONE.
