GREG LONDON

MASTER MUSICAL IMPRESSIONIST IS GOING TO HAVE HIMSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS NOW THAT HIS SHOW “GREG LONDON ’S ICONS” HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY POPULAR DEMAND INTO 2010 AT HARRAH’S RENO

The Singer’s Soulful Take On “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” which features contemporary jazz star saxman Warren Hill and two of James Taylor’s longtime backing vocalists, will be hitting AC Radio in Mid-October.

Greg London’s (https://www.tradebit.com) about to deck the halls in Reno! If anyone’s going to be having himself a merry little Christmas this year, it’s the master musical impressionist, who is now one of the city’s longest running solo entertainers ever.

The multi-talented singer and musician’s joyfully entertaining, wonderfully schizophrenic musical show “ Greg London ’s Icons,” which launched its current run in Sammy’s Showroom at Harrah’s Reno in July, 2007, has been extended for a second time by overwhelming demand into 2010. It’s been a staple there since a few months after he wrapped his critically acclaimed and highly popular two month debut stint at the Venue in Leicester Square on London’s West End. Unlike most impressionist shows which remain static throughout their run, London updates his storylines and array of characters every six months.

Now, the high energy entertainer who spends his evenings channeling some of the greatest musical performers of our time--Buddy Holly, Joe Cocker, Jim Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, ZZ Top, Johnny Cash, Rod Stewart, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Tina Turner and Ozzy Osbourne, among others--is about to show his romantic side and warm America’s heart this holiday season with his own soulful voice.

His beautifully arranged, intimate rendition of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” will be released to AC radio stations across the country in mid-October and was recently included in a compilation created by Daybreak Entertainment that is sent out to all major market morning shows.

Produced by veteran film composer Eric Colvin, the track also features the sensual saxophone of contemporary jazz star Warren Hill and backing vocals by famed session and touring singers Arnold McCuller and Kate Markowitz, who have performed together for years with James Taylor.

While “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is one of the world’s most beloved holiday songs, for London, it was anything but a random choice. About ten years ago, London was starring in a live television Christmas show at The Lodge in Pebble Beach, California. After he performed the song famed record producer Terry Melcher, who was there with his mother, film legend Doris Day, came up to him and said, “My mom thinks you’re incredible and you need to record that song. We’re gonna do it and I’m going to be the producer!”

Melcher passed away in 2004, but London knew that he’d eventually be recording and releasing the song—maybe not with the Beach Boys as backing vocalists as Melcher originally proposed, but still with great passion.

“I knew I was destined to sing this song, which I’ve always admired for its heartfelt sentiment and simple innocence,” he says. “It’s endeared itself to many generations and became very personal when I began singing it to my son Jason. He’s 14 now, but when I sang it, I saw a little boy there looking at me--which is why there are some very soft moments on the track. Warren brings a brilliance to the song with his sax, and I loved working with Arnold, Kate and Eric, who are all masters at what they do. The whole experience in the studio was magical.”

London fans will be glad to know that the magic doesn’t stop December 25. He and Colvin are currently in the studio working on tracks for the singer’s new EP, due sometime in 2009. They have recorded covers of “Cool Change,” “Secret Agent Man” and two classic Bread songs, “Everything I Own” and “ Guitar Man. ”

The first single from the EP to go to AC radio early next year will be announced shortly.
