ROCK: Classic Rock, POP: 70''s Pop

DANCE ON THIS EARTH is a phenomenal first release from SLEEPING GIANT, a band whose musical influences range from Pink Floyd to Matchbox 20, with a dash of the Tubes thrown in for fun. With 45 minutes of original songs, the musicianship, production, songwriting and lyric content on this album rivals that of the big name bands. Five time CMA Musician of the Year nominee Brent Rowan provides the frosting on this fine album, with his exceptional electric guitar work.

SLEEPING GIANT is an electric and acoustic guitar based band, and DANCE ON THIS EARTH possesses a classic rock quality, with exceptionally strong vocal harmonies, poignant lyrics, solid rhythm, tasteful percussive accents, creative bass lines, hooky guitar work, surprising special effects, and real (not synthesized!) strings. No samples, no sound bytes, no loops, no canned drum tracks - just real, good music. A genuine Rocky Mountain Colorado thunderstorm introduces track 5.

Tom Schwall''s often edgy, sometimes haunting vocals are complemented by the colorful layering of Jeff Swoyer''s impeccable harmonies. Drummer Mark Walker supplies a steady stream of innovative percussion, while Randy Dodd''s expressive rhythm guitar and Willie Samuelson''s solid bass lines set the groove. Guest appearances by guitarist Brent Rowan, pianist Rick St. Pierre, jazz keyboardist Mark Johnston, violinist Teresa Steffen, and vocalist Trevor Guire add spice and diversity to the classic rock sound of this group.

DANCE ON THIS EARTH is recorded and produced by platinum record and Emmy Award winning engineer Scott Singer, whose engineering expertise and polished production are evident throughout this project.

The band chose the name SLEEPING GIANT to represent not only a prominent local landmark in their hometown of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, but also to reflect the band members'' latent inclinations toward original music and their desire to tap the slumbering depths of their creativity and expression.

The first track, "Walkin'' By The River," was inspired by the Columbine, Colorado high school shootings, and communicates a much broader anti-violence message with its chorus, "throw your guns away." "Broken Mirror" presents dark, double entendre lyrics building to a raw refrain. On "Tell Me Something," the band features a melodic lead guitar in a rock ballad whose universal message is to "build a better bridge before we drown." "Seems Like Lately" shows another side of the band in a jangly pop song with an ultra cool vocal/percussion/guitar break in the middle. Introduced with a genuine thunderstorm, "Find A Way" is an acoustic guitar, conga laced, beautifully dreamy lilt that showcases the melodic elements of Schwall''s voice, while featuring a string section solo and a hypnotic out chorus. The title track, "Dance On This Earth," demonstrates the band''s lyric strength with an environmental rage featuring a quirky talk-box solo break. With "Invisible," the band presents the large questions of time and life by using a reverse reverb effect in a reflective melody that builds to a plaintive demand to "show it to me." "Talk To Me" is a backwater swamp romp driven by a throaty guitar hook that will work its way into your head. The band goes totally pop with the alt/country tune "Dance The Night Away", featuring guest vocalist Trevor Guire, and a percussion/instrumental break that will mesmerize you with its stereo production, dovetailing into a sizzling lead guitar solo. The final track, the raunch rock "Drivin'' Down the Road," is a tongue in cheek car song with extremely fun guitars, a very tasty solo, spot on vocals, and a nasty wet slide guitar to drive you home.

Introspective, environmental, political, love gone bad, love gone good - its all there. Give this CD a listen, it will blow you away!
