Rising from the rusted ruins of Flint, Michigan, the city that had birthed the automobile industry and slowly watched itself tossed aside and abandoned, comes a group of four men with a musical vision and the tenacity to refuse to accept the conventional wisdom of negativity and apathy. Combining strong songwriting and musicianship with thought-provoking lyrics, they, as their beloved hometown, struggle to rebuild the pride that once reigned in the Great Lakes Region and attracted people from all areas of the Globe to come and partake in the excitement and innovation!

…well, that, and play some loud Rock’n’Roll, baby!

‘A New Voice in Progressive Hard Rock’ describes episodic’s signature sound which combines Guitar-driven melodic hard rock with progressive elements such as odd timing meters, abrupt tempo and scene changes and a tight, aggressive rhythm section. The passionate and compelling vocal delivery of the intriguing lyrics saturates the relevancy of each of their songs. Some of the bands that have inspired their sound would include Rush, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Kings X, Incubus, Tool, Disturbed, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Dream Theater.

The seeds of what would become episodic were planted by Guitarist/founder Rich Kotsko as he followed a dream he had held since his High School garage band days. A local, unknown musician with a handful of songs and no industry or local networking experience, he eventually recruited longtime friends Mark Routt on drums and guitarist Jeremy Aiello who switched to bass to complete the rhythm section. They have become very tight, articulate, and intuitive in their musical performance and songwriting. They eventually found former Liquid Eclipse vocalist Chris Lopez to complete their sound with his soaring and passionate vocals. Their self-produced debut CD ‘Anything But God’ is due to release December, 2008 on their private Swifty Records label. They will be increasing the amount of shows they will be playing in Flint and Metro Detroit area clubs and plan on expanding their fan base throughout the Great Lakes region. They have played such venues as The Machine Shop, Porky’s Clubhouse, and the Corunna Road Bar in Flint and the Emerald Theater, The Token Lounge, and Bull Frogs Bar and Grill in the Detroit area, including ‘The Industry is Sleeping’ showcase and networking event with Industry reps on December 6, 2008 at Bull Frogs. They also have been the featured band on Z93, WKQZ in Midland, MI on their ‘Backyard Buzz’ local artist spotlight and have a video of two songs and an interview on Comcast On-Demand from their Emerald Theater show in early 2008.

With an increasing repertoire of original music, drenched in themes and sounds that are intriguing and masterfully performed, episodic looks forward to a sophomore CD in the near future. They also plan to continue promoting themselves through various on-line and media outlets and it is only a matter of time before they will be opening for National acts and garnering critical acclaim. Their only desire is for the world to open their minds to the new voice in Progressive Hard Rock – episodic!
