Who are the Smartest Monkeys?...........
Asher - Sings, plays guitars, writes songs. How smart is this monkey? From about 6th grade, Asher would write a song, perform and record it by himself onto his PC computer, mix it and burn CDs which he then sold at middle school. This monkey had a following at age 13. Now at 18, music industry veterans on both coasts are buzzing over his amazing songwriting ability and clever cutting lyrics. Asher''s influences are primarily XTC, Incubus, Deftones, At the Drive-In and Far.
Matt - Sings, plays ANYTHING on guitar and writes songs. How smart is this monkey? Matt has been making records since he was 12. At age 18 he has been a veteran of two successful touring rock bands. With one band he recorded a very well received album on which he sang and wrote and played guitar. Matt''s influences range from Led Zeppelin and Yes to XTC and Stone Temple Pilots. He is a multi-talented singer songwriter guitarist and a monkey.
Having joined forces late in 2001 and worked out how deep the influences would go (and who was Lennon and who was McCartney), TSM put together a fun, catchy demo, self produced and recorded in the attic. This led to the forming a fantastic live band with local friends.
Steven - The most musically diverse monkey, you may find anything from Dylan to Tower of Power to XTC in his CD player. Dubbed the "conscience" of the band, Steven is a multi- talented multi- instrumentalist and a hot political debater.
Brandon - Plays drums, piano and perc as well. The way elder statesman of the group at 22, Brandon brings the fire to the kit and keeps the monkeys funky. Originally from Birmingham Alabama his roots are from Thailand where his father hails from.
TSM has been gigging around Nashville to rave reviews since late 2002 and have now begun regional shows including being asked to open for National acts like OK Go and The Donnas. TSM has now released their self titled EP, and will be performing regionally and internationally this summer.
