Mackenson Jonassaint was born on December 8, 1969 in Port-with-Prince, Haiti. Having grown in a Christian family, very early he was implied in various activities of his church gaining recognition particularly in the musical field. From simple chorus-singer to choir director; from background singer to lead vocalist, his engagement in the service of God, at his church, fully contributed to his spiritual bloom and the development of his talent for the music. Mackenson was always in the center of the musical evolution of the Haitian Christian community. He was distinguished while he evolved with local groups such “Ambassadeur de la terre promise” and the “Souffle Divin de la Nouvelle Jérusalem” with which realized several tours performing for tens of thousands in the stadiums, the gymnasiums, at major crusades all over Haiti, exclaiming the good news of salvation through his songs. Although he majored in Philosophy at the University of the State of Haiti, his Christian belief remained his focus and music proved to be his main passion.
In 1993, Mackenson moved in the United States. Three years later, in 1996, he cofounded the original band Zanmi. Their first album, “Li Renmen Mwen”, was released the same year, was an instant hit and is still playing on rotation on radio stations throughout the Caribbean, United States, and Canada. He made televised appearances on TBN’s (Trinity Broadcasting Network) production “Christ is the answer” presented by the reverend Joel Jeune in Haiti. These performances are broadcast around the world in the Creole-speaking and certain French-speaking countries.
In 2006, he returned to Miami from Virginia where he served in the US Navy for several years and was back in the studio recording his Christian World music solo album “Koze’m”, which will be released October 2008.
« Koze''m” is a fusion of traditional Haitian, Zouk, Latin, Reggae, and Afro beats and rhythms easily mixed with harmonies of R&B, and world, the whole for the service of God and for the edification of the soul. The album presents Mackenson’s capacities as a unique singer and highly skilled song writer. The hypnotic and simple melodies in this album present not only the cry of a grateful heart, but the expression of Mackenson’s commitment to his Lord and Savior Jesus-Christ. The music, for Mackenson, is a medium which enables him to touch hearts and to reach lives while bringing a spiritual message of freedom, hope, and faith in the world beyond all cultural barriers. The message of Mackenson comes from personal experiences with God, including the battle, in particular, for the survival of his first child, born with “down syndrome”. She was not expected to live and now is 12 years old.

Mackenson Jonassaint est Né le 8 décembre 1969 à Port-au-Prince, Haïti. Ayant grandi dans une famille chrétienne, très tôt il s’est impliqué dans diverses activités de son église se faisant particulièrement remarquer dans le domaine de la musique. De simple choriste au directeur de chorale; d’accompagnateur au chanteur soliste, son engagement au service de Dieu, au sein de son église, a pleinement contribué à son épanouissement spirituel et au développement de son talent pour la musique. Mackenson est toujours au centre de l''évolution musicale de la communauté chrétienne haïtienne. Il s’est distingué pendant qu’il évoluait avec des groupes locaux tels « Ambassadeur de la terre promise » et le « Souffle Divin de la Nouvelle Jérusalem» avec lesquels il a réalisé plusieurs tournées et a performé en présence des dizaines de milliers dans les stades, les gymnases, et un peu partout en Haïti, publiant la bonne nouvelle du salut a travers ses chansons. Lors même qu''il préparait une maitrise en philosophie à l''Université d''Etat d’Haïti, sa croyance chrétienne demeurait son unique boussole et la musique, sa passion principale.
En 1993, Mackenson a déménagé aux Etats-Unis. Trois ans après, en 1996, il a cofondé l’original groupe Zanmi. Leur premier album, « Li Renmen Mwen », lancé la même année, était un succès instantané, et est encore en rotation sur les bandes de radio dans les Caraïbes, aux Etats-Unis et au Canada. Il a fait des apparitions télévisées au TBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) a l’émission «Christ est la réponse» présentée par le révérend Joël Jeune en Haïti. Ces émissions sont diffusées partout dans les pays créolophones et certains pays francophones.
En 2006, juste peu d''années après son retour à Miami de la Virginie où il a résidé et a servi dans la force navale américaine (US Navy) pendant plusieurs années, on le retrouve dans les studios d’enregistrement préparant son album solo, « Koze’m », qui sera livré au grand public a la fin de ce mois d’Octobre 2008.
« Koze’m » est une fusion de rythme haïtien traditionnel, zouk, latin, de reggae, et des rythmes africains aisément mélangés avec des harmonies de R&B, et du monde, le tout au service de Dieu et a l’édification de l’âme. L''album présente Mackenson dans ses capacités de chanteur tout en révélant son magnifique talent de compositeur. Cet album représente non seulement le cri d’un cœur reconnaissant, mais aussi est-il l’expression de l’engagement de l’artiste à son Seigneur et Sauveur Jésus-Christ. La musique, pour Mackenson, est un medium qui lui permet de toucher des cœurs et d’atteindre des vies en apportant un message spirituel de liberté, d’espérance, et de foi au monde au-delà de toutes les barrières culturelles . Le message de Mackenson est empreint d’expériences personnelles avec Dieu, comprenant notamment le combat pour la survie de son premier enfant, né avec le « down syndrome » (trisomie 21), maintenant âgé de 12 ans.
