HIP HOP/RAP: Hip Hop, HIP HOP/RAP: Southern Style

Details:
Spacemann has been a student of hip-hop since being inspired to write by the likes of Rakim and LL Cool J. Even before then he was using school desks to make beats and showing off his talents as a drummer in the marching band and later taking piano and guitar lessons. As a teenager, Spacemann developed his rap skills by battle rapping in schoolyards and talent shows with rap groups in his hometown of Coushatta, Louisiana. After the groups dissolved and two years of college, Spacemann realized rap was his true calling. He took the step into the industry as a solo artist and independently released his first recording in 1991, a maxi single titled Fresh Out the Boot which he sold at dances and on the streets. He performed in clubs and talent shows and continued to release singles for five years before he released his first album titled Nothing 2 Lose in 1996. The album received major radio air-play and generated performances in key markets in Louisiana. But Spacemann wanted more. In 1998 Spacemann moved to the DFW metroplex to refocus and reinvent his approach to the music business, he put his efforts into playing and programming tracks using his tools of choice W7 Yamaha workstation and later added the Roland Groove Box. Numerous original tracks were made. To his production he has added aggressive, bragadious and storytelling lyrics that represent southern realism, yet show off his love of east coast word play. The result was Drama Funk Productions, a deeply soulful sound layered with lyrics, smooth melodies and funky baselines infused with a unique approach to drums.
