Alicia Ultan and Bambi Wolf (formerly Bambi Jackson) met up one cold eve in December of 2000 for a musical jam, each going away from the session thinking that there was no way they’d ever be able to blend their very different & individual musical styles. However, something drew them back together, and they performed their debut gig as the musical duo Charmed in January of 2001 at the Blue Dragon Coffee House in Albuquerque, NM, USA – packing the house! Since that time, they have had beaucoup adventures, including playing duo gigs all over New Mexico; releasing their debut CD – Beautifully Twisted – May of 2005 achieving a great response and reviews Internationally; winning the first NM Music Commission’s Talent Competition for budding new bands; claiming a nomination for their instrumental, Innbydelsen, from the 2006 NM MIC Awards; and just recently, on December 13, 2008, celebrating the release of their 2nd CD – BitterSuite 7 – with a packed, rowdy and cheering house of friends, family & fans at O’Niell’s Pub in Albuquerque.
Their music takes many twists and turns, spinning tales of love, life, loss, rebirth and hope for their audiences, allowing people to feel, to cry, to laugh, to be healed, to walk away being refreshed, gaining a peace. Blending the beauty of guitar, piano, viola and vocals, Charmed’s music is reminiscent of the lyrical sweetness of Sarah McLachlan, the melodic moodiness of Tori Amos, the melancholy wistfulness of Fisher, the deeply emotional and powerful instrumentation of Delirium, and the straight-shooting sassiness of Lucy Kaplansky.
Presenting to the world their own deep & dark, sweet & sad, wistful & melancholy, sassy & sarcastic music - they have managed to weave a mystical spell around their audiences time and again!
