Details:
Kyzer Sozay was born in Durham, North Carolina. In order to be closer to family, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 7 where he still resides. The son of a bass player he was exposed to a variety of music (mainly jazz, funk, and soul) at a young age. His first musical experience being sitting with headphones in front of the family''s Pioneer stereo cassette tape deck and repeatedly listening to The Four Tops "Reach Out, I''ll Be There". However, these genres of music would not suffice in quenching his thirst for the love of music. At the age of 10, Kyzer Sozay first started listening to Hip Hop. It was on Christmas Day, after receiving a set of headphones that it happened, and it was none other than Mack 10''s "Backyard Boogie" that served as the catalyst in opening him up to an entire world of Hip Hop music. Nevertheless, it wasn''t until 5 years later at the age of 15 that Kyzer Sozay was inspired to get involved in Hip Hop beyond merely listening and began writing his own rhymes, strictly adhering to the fact that he is a "fan first". By this time he was already an avid fan of all forms of Hip Hop music, and due to a curious mind and an obsessive love of complexity he naturally gravitated towards lyrical heavyweights. Citing his main inspirations as Big Pun, Pharoahe Monch, Kool G Rap, Black Thought, Ras Kass, Xzibit, Big L, Rakim, Chino XL, Sticky Fingaz, Redman, DMX, Nas, Jay-Z, as well as many others. Kyzer Sozay has a passion for lyrics to say the least. After nearly 2-3 years of strictly writing rhymes to perfect his lyrical prowess and having never stepped foot in a vocal booth, it was at the age of 17 that Kyzer Sozay decided it was time to begin recording. From the ages of 17-19 Kyzer Sozay recorded multiple demos throughout various studios in the Albuquerque area trying to hone his craft. In between recording these demos he continued to pay his dues by hustling his self made cd''s to whichever prestigious artists toured their way through Albuquerque. Whether it meant hanging out at backstage doors after shows or arriving hours prior to shows. In the meantime, he was also sending out press kits to record labels and Hip Hop magazines. After sending one such press kit to The Source Unsigned Hype, he was contacted and received minor recognition in the December 2006 issue. After all these endeavors, Kyzer Sozay set out on a new mission, which would turn out to be the creation of his first full length debut album titled "Don''t Trust A Soul". The steps taken to complete this project would prove to be of paramount significance when compared to all other missions so far accomplished. The fact that 100% of "Don''t Trust A Soul" was written, performed, as well as recorded by Kyzer Sozay himself is a testament to his passion and drive for creating high quality Hip Hop music and succeeding independently in the Hip Hop Industry. With the release of "Don''t Trust A Soul" in December 2008, Kyzer Sozay is looking forward to 2009 and beyond with the high hopes that a dedication to quality coupled with a relentless and unrivaled work ethic will most certainly equal success in today''s Hip Hop landscape.
