Ariel Suero was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1975. Fascinated with music since childhood, he began music studies formally at age 6 and studied for 11 years obtaining degrees in Pianoforte from Trinity College of Music in London along the way. Seeking to expand his musical horizons beyond his classical music training, he began to listen to other styles of music and incorporate them into his repertoire. When describing the genre that he falls into, Ariel stops to reflect. “Well, I come from a Latin family, but I was heavily influenced by jazz and gospel, so I guess I would call it Latin Jazz Gospel”, says the pianist. Despite his musical training and skill, Ariel considers himself a worshipper first, musician second.
During his senior year of high school, Ariel was named Class Musician and received the Gospel Choir Award in recognition of outstanding musical contributions to the Choir. For the next several years he would serve as Worship Leader in New York and Pennsylvania before forming the gospel group GO4TH with Chris Aikens in 2003. The following year, GO4TH performed a rousing rendition of the National Anthem at First Energy Stadium in Reading, PA on Negro League Tribute Night. The group has also appeared on the C8 television channel as well as local print media, and has recorded a live concert, GO4TH: Live in Pittsburgh. Ariel also appeared with the Lighthouse Praise Band at the 2007 Mayfair Festival in Allentown, PA.
With his first solo release, Villancicos, Ariel pays tribute to his blended heritage of Latin and American cultures. The album features 13 instrumental tracks that are a combination of American Christmas standards such as “Silent Night” and “We Three Kings”, as well as Latin American goodies such as “Burrito Sabanero” and “Alegre Vengo” which were beautifully produced by Alen Harris at Studio 325 West in Birdsboro, PA.
