Details:
A four-piece band hailing out of L.A., STAFFORD has been quick to become one of the most exciting and unique new bands to arise in the current Los Angeles music scene. Made up of TJ Stafford on vocals and guitar, Dave Ross on bass, Michael Kopulos on electric guitar and Mark Chipello on drums, their vast array of musical tastes and knowledge combine to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Upon listening you''ll hear hints of John Mayer, Dave Matthews and Radiohead melding with the excellent individual talents and chemistry of the band to create an uncategorizable musical experience that far exceeds its four-piece makeup.

Front man TJ Stafford, 26 years old, grew up on the dirt roads of central Kansas, but in early adolescence found a home in Southern California. With a guitar in hand since the ripe age of five, TJ''s Midwestern roots and Southern California style, combined with years of playing guitar, have lent themselves to creating song writing and playing styles all his own. Utilizing a degree in English Literature from UCLA, his lyrics provoke thought and ask for depth while still giving poetic pleasure to the listener.

Bass player Dave Ross, 24 years old, grew up in Southern California''s San Fernando Valley. Having picked up the bass at the age of 15, he has long used music as an outlet of expression in his life. A member of his high school Jazz Band, he uses this knowledge along with influences such as Miles Davis and Primus, to create a bass sound that does not just add support to, but often carries the music of Stafford.

Drummer Mark Chipello, 22 years old, is perhaps the most musically gifted of the quartet. He has had drumsticks in hand since early childhood. Mark took his lead from his father, a professional piano player, planting his roots in jazz and Latin influences. Mark''s musical endeavors include participation in classical ensembles, drum corps, the UCLA marching band, teaching drum-lines in France and Belgium and performing before 9,000 people at the Air Canada center in Toronto, Canada. His skill level provides a landscape for Stafford''s music that is limitless, turning good songs into great songs, cool songs into amazingly interesting songs.

Electric guitarist Michael Kopulos, 21 years old, is the latest addition to the band, ushering Stafford into the latest chapter on its musical adventure. Mike''s sound is not just another voice in the band, but rather an enveloping force that flavors every piece of every song. His addition to the band in the spring of 2004 has pushed the group to new heights. Mike is a full time guitar performance student at the Musician''s Institute in Hollywood.

Forming in the winter of 2002, Stafford has made an immediate impact on the local music scene, packing venues such as the House of Blues (co-headlining a show that drew over 1,100 people), El Rey Theater, The Viper Room, B.B. King''s, The Troubadour, The Roxy, The Whisky, and the Knitting Factory. They released an EP, mixed by Rob Chiarelli and Michael Smidi Smith, in 2003 and have just finished wrapping up their first full-length album. Stafford hopes and plans to ride the waves they''ve created in Los Angeles to the national and even international level.
With a sound as creative and tightly knit as theirs, that looks to be happening soon
