Details:
Molly McNight has invented a unique "Country classical" genre of music with her elegantly flavored raw, honest songs.

A vocal virtuoso according to Music Connection Magazine and the AMG, Storyteller and Pianist Molly McNight accompanies herself live on a 9.5 foot Yamaha Concert Grand Piano.

Featured is her soaring Romantic Sonata, "My Best Friend".

Molly McNight will be embarking on a one woman tour in 2009 featuring her Music, Photography, Literary works, Architectural Design and Design Patents. The event includes a seminar designed to inspire girls and let them know... they can do anything!

McNight comes from a background of living completely off the grid in the back country of Paso Robles California, interspersed with being an outsider to the conspicuous consumption of upscale Arcadia California. McNights background is a mix of outhouses and outdoor showers vs living on the other side of the tracks in suburbia.

McNight''s storytelling is an honest personal documentary.

McNight refuses to call her piano expertise anything but sub mediocre.

"I use the piano as a chain saw, I love the sheer power. I never feel I''m totally in control!" Says McNight.

"When I was shorter than the keyboard I would stand there for hours and bang away. Getting in trouble for getting strawberry jam on the keys from my pbjs.

"My mom tried to give me piano lessons, but I refused to practice, I would just bang at it. She pulled the plug.

"In the short time I attempted lessons I was handicapped by undiagnosed dyslexia. I would memorize the music by ear and pretend to play from the sheet music.

"I taught myself to read music years later when Moa Cir Santos wanted me to sing with his band. Never did. Never was good enough in my opinion."

All songs written solely by McNight with the exception of Sundown Cinderella. That was a collaboration between McNight and her cousin Ann Greenwald.

The collection was recorded at Santa Barbara Sound. Produced by Meredith Day.

Engineered by Terry Nelson and Daniel Prothero. (Loggins and Messina)

Recorded live, two track, with no opportunity for punch in or pitch correction. StoryTeller is a testament to McNight''s extraordinary vocal prowess. Minimally enhanced by single classic vacuum tube reverb.

The 9.5 foot Yamaha Grand was triple miked for StoryTeller and Truth and Bare. Low, medium and high, making the earphone experience unique in the placement of the keys on the piano in the headphones in the traditional stereo mix.

Ordinarily this style of miking produces phasing. A testament to the engineering talent of Nelson and Prothero. They kept it to a minimum, using it as an enhancement to bring fullness to a very simple production.

McNight chose to release the collection with, in her words, "All the typos. I like hearing it rough! Takes me back into the room.

"Once you''re in the song the power carries you, I can ride there forever.

"The stress was tremendous" McNight States. "I had to execute each song in one take. Because I was playing the piano and singing at the same time, the piano was bleeding down the vocal mike and visa versa. No chance for a retake or a punch in.

"I was recording in the middle of the night on two days the studio wasn''t booked at a discount the owner allowed me. Called "Uncle Dean''s Time". It was all I could afford. Thank God Dean believed in my music!

"The pressure was really on, during a significant portion of the session Joe Walsh was sitting in the corridor overhearing. I still can''t believe my fingers found the keys and my voice found the pitch with Walsh, a major musical influence for me, within hearing."

What a life!
